Boy killed at Six Flags Over Georgia

By RHONDA COOK
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 06/28/08

A 17-year-old boy was killed Saturday when he was struck by the popular Batman ride at Six Flags Over Georgia.

According to a statement from the amusement park, the boy climbed over two six-foot fences around the popular Batman roller coaster

"We do not know why this person was intent on gaining access to this restricted area, as multiple signs clearly state: Danger Zone/Do Not Enter/Authorized Personnel Only," the statement from park spokeswoman Hela Sheth.

"Some witnesses have stated that the individual was trying to retrieve something he had lost," Sheth said. "Others reported that he was trying to touch the ride. This is merely speculation at this point, and we are working with park visitors and local police to learn more."

Officials have not released the boy's name.

No one on the ride was injured, Sheath said in the statement. The boy's family was at the park.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family," the Six Flags statement said.

Cobb County police declined to confirm reports that the boy was decapitated, and the park statement did not include that detail. Attempts to reach Six Flags officials for more information have been unsuccessful.

According to Fox 5 TV, boy was part with a church group visiting the amusement park jumped a fence around an off-limits area. One of them jumped to grab someone's feet as the Batman ride passed over, and he was decapitated.

My ex's dad, a Philly native, was the same way. The dude was so turned on by the sound of his own voice, he would spend half an hour telling you about the goddamn water filter he bought for his sink. And then he'd tell the same story to the next person to come around.

Oh boy, I can hardly wait to share this story with my 14 yr old. Last summer at Fiesta Texas, he and another knuckle dragger decided to climb out their car on that race track to "retrieve something". There was an "Emergency Stop" called on that section of the park and if I hadn't been on the premises they would have been ejected from the park. So now he has a file on record there and is banned from that ride for life. Of course while he was grounded for 2 weeks with hard labor, he didn't understand why "everyone makes such a big deal out of nothing"! Freaking genius!! :rolleyes

After the rides are closed, park staff go and retrieve lost items and have them taken to lost and found at the park entrance...unless the item falls into the water. Then they are S.O.L.

I've a degree in Psychology, and I've never heard of a disorder that makes a kid (or person) who's WITH FRIENDS hop two fences and run in front of a moving roller coaster. Jump off a cliff? Sure. But there was obvious intent here.

I guess we can blame every behavior on the disorder, instead of the kid being stupid. Because it makes perfect sense that a child who cannot maintain focus would intentionally attempt to grab someone's feet on a roller coaster. If he shoots someone or crashes into a mini-mart with a hummer, it's not his fault either, because he has a condition. :rolleyes

I'm not gullable at all. Seeing or hearing about someone doing something as equivalently stupid as getting his head chopped off by a roller coaster isn't commonplace. Not for me. I've trouble believing it was just because of stupidity. He COULD HAVE been mentally deficient in some way.

Why do you have trouble with it.

I mean, I could see you doing it quite easily.

8 of those turkey legs from the carnival is not exactly considered healthy.

T park, you should do what that kid did. It's the fastest way to lose wieght. With your triple chins you'd easily lose 60 punds minimum. When your done, post the before and after pictures for us to see.

I'm sure there's a dietitian that would say its bad for something.

Moderation of anything is ok. Eliminating some things is best.

The constant attacking of TPark and his weight is getting really overboard. He's taking steps to lose weight (and even if he wasn't, it's not really your business) so just back off a little bit. This kind of relentless, obnoxious behavior belongs in the Troll Forum, if anywhere.

Thanks.

I'd say the constant acting of an asshole by TPark is overboard too. If he didn't act like a twat so often, he wouldn't get insulted for his weight. Perhaps he should learn to be a little more respectful himself.

But for now, I will cease fire with the "fat" posts.

6 foot high fence.

Spikes on TOP of the fence.

Large signs saying stay out.

the area he was in, also has another little fence keeping you out.

3 fences jumped. Im sure though they will still sue.
