With all of the negative threads about Malik Rose! We already know that things haven't been going so well for him, so why keep on adding negative thoughts on any of the open threads that talk crap about him. I know a lot of you may not agree with me, (especially JACKASS AHF) but regardless of the mistake Malik made In the Kings game, he had been putting all of his energy In playing well. So, please stop being so negative over Malik Rose and concentrate on the good things, like the win against the Sonics last night

Well, I do agree that Malik puts all his effort and concentration when he plays. However, he's just not performing up to his normal standards. Anyways, it is normal that people here are scolding over player's poor performances. Heck, some people are even criticizing Duncan's play lately, so I wouldn't be worried about what people say.

Spurgal, I understand you love the guy.
But hes made Rasho Nesterovic look like an all star compared to how bad hes played.
His mind numbing stupidity vs Sacramento was the last straw IMO.
If you can get Donyell Marshall, practically someone that would be a perfect fit, YOU DO IT.
But, if Toronto is not willing to do it.
THen the whole BS threads ARE moot, and its no biggie.
But Malik should be critisized for his pathetic play, just as every player on the team that has, like Rasho, Brent Barry, Tim Duncan, and others.
No one is exempt from critique.

Look message boards are a way for people to express themselves, After 9/11 how many topics where on everyone's websites? The facts as I see them are as follows....
Do the spurs have the best record in the NBA? Are the Spurs in the playoffs yet?
Does Pop, RC and Holt know Rose is not producing? If you answered yes to any of those questions then relax and see how it all UN folds, I told you guys the Pop was very secretive about his business, I with a hand full of others posted that Pop and Rose have some personal issues when Rose was riding the bench last season, And we were told to shut out pie holes, It seems to me Rose has issues, and when he is not happy his play seems to suffer from it, I think there will be a trade made, Or I see Rose and Pop resolving there personal Issues and Rose will Blossom come playoffs.
Keep In mind Rose's agent, he could be Instigating a lot of what goes on also.
Just look back to AD and DA there was talk of $$ and it seemed like money ruins many teams, Just ask The Dolphins, after all that money they blew on Ricky Williams.
The way I see it as a Dallas maverick fan I have more to complain about than most of you, And I try not to Spam the forums with my cheesy takes.
So I leave you with this....If you don't like a topic don't reply to it and if it sucks that bad? It should have been on page two, already.

Horry bricks more than he hits and has done so for as long as he's been a Spur. Funny, I don't remember him hitting much in that Laker series last year, including that wide open look in Game 5 he had with about a minute left. You know, the one that must've slipped out of his hands. Yeah. Well, at least he hit the backboard.
That was the icing on the cake for him in that series because he otherwise didn't bring anything in the paint when it was needed so badly.
But, Horry can't be held to account for his inconsistent play and poor shooting because he's Robert Horry, onetime playoff performer. Yet when one points out that Malik Rose has been a playoff performer for the Spurs that is somehow invalid because it was "in the past" even though that past includes a 2nd title run in 2003 with Malik playing heavy minutes in the PF/C rotation.
I think Spurs fans deserve to see Malik just given away for nothing and then see the Spurs spend the next couple of years searching without success for a backup bigman. I bet Peter Holt is glad so many care about seeing him have a few more mil to spend on booze.

Robert can miss jumper after jumper all he wants, he actually gets back on D and doesn't cry and beat himself up over it, causing more bad plays to happen.
Do you forget the Memphis series entirely or what? Robert and Tony's killer threes were a SIGNIFICANT factor for us. So he choked against his former team, Brent Barry has too (so far minus a quarter). People are expecting more out of Malik because he's getting paid more. When he screws up it gets in his head and he thinks he has to be TD or Manu to do good, then he screws up even more than he had before.
It's no secret that Pop has a grudge against Malik, but hell, I would too if we are paying a guy that much and he can't produce what a guy getting significantly less is producing.

No, but it is pretty forgettable all things considered. In the most important series for the Spurs he flamed out. Why? Again, he's not exactly the most desirable player to have in a frontcourt rotation when you are playing physical halfcourt ball.

I too am sick of this subject and we all know everyone makes mistakes on the floor. Everyone. But Horry and others mentioned are making mistakes WITHIN their game. The problem with Malik, I think, and what brings out the negative stuff is that he is making mistakes because he is trying to go OUTSIDE his game and do things he cannot do. I don't think anyone would argue that he is trying, I am sure he feels worse about this than anyone. But, for some reason he thinks that the way to earn his minutes back are to be spectacular instead of being the hard-working, relentless tough guy in the paint that is so valuable to this team. We need the old Malik to reappear.

Malik has his own set of secret signs of affection that he displays every game. It's very much the same as the one Doug Christie does to show love for his wife.
He's saying, "I like you!" everytime he bricks a jumper.
He's saying, "I want to marry you!" each time he dribbles the ball off his foot.
He's saying, "Please stay with me forever!" anytime he trys to create his own shot.

Stop! In the name of Spurgal's love
Before you break her heart
Baby, baby
I'm aware of where you go(the bench)
Each time you leave the floor with the final say
After I watch you walk down the lane, thinkin you are MJ
Knowing that this time Pop might show you the door
But this time before you throw that pass to the 2nd row
Leave your jersey off you head
Cause your man is dunkin on you, you're dead
(Think it over) After I've been good to you
(Think it over) After I've been sweet to you ?

flashback, 1999:
When the San Antonio Spurs are looking for a little relief for David Robinson and Tim Duncan, the Twin Towers who have propelled the team into the NBA Finals, they turn to Malik Rose.
The beefy forward from Drexel gets only about 13 minutes of playing time a game. But he makes them count.
With the energy that comes from sitting on the bench, and a nose for the ball, Rose averaged six points and almost four rebounds an outing this season. That computes to an easy double-double -- if Rose ever got to play an entire game.
This year, Rose's postseason pinnacle came against the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals, when he scored 13 points and pulled down five rebounds in 19 minutes of play.
He hasn't played more than 20 minutes in a game since mid-April and, in fact, his time on the floor during the playoffs has dropped to about 10 minutes a game as the Spurs have stayed with their starting front line of Sean Elliott, Duncan and Robinson. (Elliott's playing time has increased two minutes a game, while Robinson and Duncan are up about three minutes per.)
But the man his teammates call "Horse" has shown he's someone the Spurs can ride -- at least for a few minutes a game.

Malik never said that he did stuff on purpose to sabotage his own team on the court. All he said in that interview was that sometimes last season he did stuff to irk Pop and made their relationship worse -- I don't think he was talking about messing up on the court.
So. You're a pretty reliable source about the team. What exactly did Malik do?

Isn't it obvious? Rasho was the whipping boy for quite a while. Now since he's hurt somebody needs a new goat. When Rasho comes back he will doubtless become the target again. Or maybe he'll be a bit more appreciated and they'll blame somebody else for the Spurs' woes.

Wow this thread is long.
I'd just like to say that while I thought Malik's play that last game was stupid, I have seen Tony Mass, Robert Horry, Tony Parker, Devin Brown, Tim Duncan, and even the GREAT Manu Ginobili make some boneheaded plays this year (and more than once at that). What I don't understand is why people seem to take it harder on Malik. I understand that his contract is high and not exactly his worth, however, the Spurs organization agreed to it, it wasn't a one sided deal.
Furthermore, Pop's yo-yo play with Malik has got to affect a players mindset. First 10 or so games of the season, which every1 seems to have forgotten now, Malik was the first big man off the bench, and he lived up to every1's expectations. He has nights where he scored 15 or so points, where he hussled and grabbed rebounds, etc. Then all of a sudden, Pop decided to not play him. Why? Because he had one bad game? Like there are players on the team who also haven't ever had bad games? Horry had some pretty bad ones in the begining of the season, where not only did he end the night scoring 2 or 3 points, he didn't even try rebounding. But, now that he's playing so great, fans seem to have forgotten that.
The point is, I think that it's unfair to Malik the way he is being treated by Pop. Pop is taking this to a personal level it seems and is not being professional about it. I actually hope that Malik does get traded to a great team, just so all the so called Malik-haters can see how good he has the potential to play, without CIA Pop on his case, and with a coach who doesn't treat him like shit.

man, you need to chill out. This is all done in jest. We do not know you from Adam, so how can we make any judgements that mean anything at all....just go with the good natured ribbing and laugh about it.
After tonight's game (Lakers) I am smiling......... :spin :spin :spin

I know this isn't as good, but man that other one is hard to top now! :lol
Petula Clark - Toronto(Downtown)
When you're alone
And coach is making you lonely,
You can always go Toron-to
When you've got worries,
All the noise and the hurry
Seems to help, I know, Toron-to
Just listen to the trade talk all over the city
Linger in the forums where the fans won't give you pity
How can you lose?
The people are much lighter there
You can forget all your travels, forget your fans care and go
To Toron-to, things'll be great when you're
In Toron-to, no finer place for sure,
Toron-to, Canada's waiting for you

Beast of Burden
I'll never be your beast of burden
My back is broad, but it's a hurting
All I want is for you to make a call to me
I'll never be your beast of burden
I've walked for turnovers, my passes go awry
All I want is for you to make a call to me
Am I talented enough, Am I rough enough
I am rich enough, I'm not to blind to see
I'll never be your beast of burden
So let's put me in and draw the fouls
Music on the PA
Come on Pop make that call to me
Am I talented enough, Am I rough enough
I am rich enough, I'm not to blind to see
Oh Pop
Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty Pop
Solo
You're a pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty Pop
Pretty, pretty, such a pretty, pretty, pretty Pop
Come on Pop please please please
I'll tell ya
You can trade me...to the Heat
You can take me out...with no stats on my sheet
But you can take me out, take me out, put me out of misery
All your stubborness, I can suck it up
Throw it all at me, I can shrug it off
There's one thing Pop, that I don't understand
You keep telling me, I ain't your kind of man
Ain't I talented enough
Ain't I tough enough
I am rich enough, not tradable enough
Ooh, ooh, please
I'll never be your beast of burden
I'll never be your beast of burden
Never, never, never, never, never, never, never be
I'll never be your beast of burden
I've walked for turnovers and my passes go awry
All I want is you to make a call to me
I don't need no beast of burden
I need no fussin
I need no nursin
Never, never, never, never, never, never, never be

Two Wide Open Shots (Two Pina Coladas)
You Were feeling the Blues
You were watching the news
You saw you were on the Bench
So now you are afraid
Because you're up for trade
Lately you've been a big stench
So then you got goin
Without even knowin
You scored more than ten
But now you're on a role
And we all know
That you'll prob. f#$% up again
(When you miss) Two wide open shots
(Then you give up) one to your man
We'll all see a pissed if Coach Pop
And then you'll be left with one fan
Your toubles I forgot em
Then you leave open your man
The you miss two wide open shots
Say goodbye to your PT man.
But now I got to say
I enjoy a cheesesteak
Also the hustle you bring
Eases my mind
By leavin’ behind
The heartaches that your play can bring
Now I’ve got a smile
That goes on for miles
I bet you think your the king
I’ve gotta say
That I think I’ve gotta stay
Just don't think you can play like Kareem
(When you miss) Two wide open shots
(Then you give up) one to your man
We'll all see a pissed if Coach Pop
And then you'll be left with one fan
Your toubles I forgot em
Then you leave open your man
The you miss two wide open shots
Say goodbye to your PT man.
