I'll take Forrest as my underdog pick. Nobody thought he had a chance against Shogun either.

Is it really necessary to keep promoting Melvin Guillard?

I think it's possible Forrest has quietly built himself to great fighter status while nobody was looking. He obviously isn't as strong as Rampage, but he might be the smarter, more adaptable fighter. He doesn't have the knockout power Jackson has (although his boxing skills are much improved), but would have a definite edge on the ground. It is questionable, however, whether he can get Rampage down there or not. I'm sure Randy has given him a few pointers in that field, though.

Oh WOW one had it 49-46 for Forrest that is bullshit right there. First rd was i thougth dead even. 2nd RD Forrrest obviously won but not 10-8 he did not do enough damage. 3rd was Rampage, he outstruck him, 4th Rd Rampage outstruck him, i had the 5th real close but probably gave it to Forrest, based on aggresion. I had it 2-2 with one even, a draw. I don't have a problem with Forrest winning the fight but 49-46, NO WAY!!!

Did not like the decision is why he got booed i think. I see around Sherdog a lot of people feel it was a draw or Rampage won. They gave gave him rds 1,3 and 4. That 49-46 card was a disgrace. Great fight though, i want to see an immediate re-match. Why should Rampage have to fight his way back up when he lost a super-close fight?? I need to see it again but i had it a draw

dallaskd
07-06-2008, 12:27 AM
I could see a draw, but no way Rampage won the fight. it was either a draw or forrest. round 1 was jackson 10-9. round 2 could have been griffn 10-8 or 10-9. round 3 was rampage 10-9. and i had rounds 4 and 5 griffin 10-9. but you could make a case round 5 was jackson.

Rampage and Griffin pretty much went toe to toe. I was pulling for Griffin, but in a case like last night, when it comes down to decision, which is subjective, and its really close, you gotta do it again.

But that is why they have a point system. I really like Griffin, so Im happy for him. Rampage was gracious, and said he got his ass whooped, but neither man got their ass whooped.

Evan
07-06-2008, 01:46 PM
Yeah Forrest never took him up on it. oops

And I agree with ATRAIN...we're looking at a fast re-match assuming Rampage's leg isn't shot with torn ligaments or a possible stress fracture.

Poor Rampage has a nasty road ahead of him..his next three fights are likely to be against (in no order) Wanderlei, Forrest and Liddell. And if he wins the title back you can add Lyoto to that mix.

Dude needs a raise...hah

"If you look at UFC champions: BJ Penn - terrifying! GSP - terrifying! Anderson Silva - terrifying! But I'm not terrifying. I am not the super-submission guy, I am not the one-punch KO guy, so I am not the most feared guy in the world.

After re-watching, I'm sticking with a draw...47-47

1st – 10-9 Rampage
2nd – 10-8 Forrest
3rd – 10-9 Rampage (very close rd)
4th – 10-9 Rampage
5th – 10-9 Forrest (very close rd)

I don't have a problem with Forrest winning, but I do have a problem with the details of the judging...

Rd 1 to Forrest on 2 judge's card? :wow
4 rds to 1 for Forrest on one card? :wow

I have no faith in these judges...

Overall, a so-so card...

Cote-Almeida was a TURD. I actually had Almeida winning 29-28 with the takedown/sub attempt in the last 30 seconds of the 3rd being the difference. Cote landed 3 leg kicks and Almeida landed a couple decent punches and got the takedown. Not really a reversal by Cote since Almeida sold out on whatever sub he attempted (hard to tell). Cote didn't earn a reversal there. Cote will get KILLED by Silva...I can't believe Dana said he's in line for a title shot after THAT performance.

Tyson Griffin is great but can't buy a finish...Aurelio can't beat A-level fighters (except for the win over Gomi)...

Nice comeback for Stevenson...he was getting dominated by Tibau, who is HUGE...didn't even look like the same weight class.

Poor Lytle...he's officially a gatekeeper now...

Miller-Gurgel was great...so was Hill-Buchholz...

I agree exactly with you Leonard...I was thinking the same thing, and I too have no problem with forrest winning.

That fight sucked so badly. For a minute there i was falling asleep and for a minute I thought it was boxing. Ugghhh what a disgrace.

After re-watching, I'm sticking with a draw...47-47

1st – 10-9 Rampage
2nd – 10-8 Forrest
3rd – 10-9 Rampage (very close rd)
4th – 10-9 Rampage
5th – 10-9 Forrest (very close rd)

I don't have a problem with Forrest winning, but I do have a problem with the details of the judging...

Rd 1 to Forrest on 2 judge's card? :wow
4 rds to 1 for Forrest on one card? :wow

100% agreed, watching it live i thought it was a draw or a close win for Forrest. Watching it again, i have it a draw as you do. When i heard that one judge had it 49-46 for Forrest, that just reeks of something foul for me. That was a DAMN close fight.

Apparently the UFC gets judges from the same pool that boxing gets theirs. :lol

It was a great fight though and I wouldn't have been surprised to see either get the win.

It’s a huge problem that nobody is happy with.
