(June 30) -- Development of a long-rumored movie version of the Fox sitcom "Arrested Development" is no longer arrested.

Jeffrey Tambor, who played the patriarch of the endearingly dysfunctional Bluth family during the show's critically acclaimed three-season run, confirmed that the film is in the works while talking to EW.com at the premiere of "Hellboy 2" on Sunday.

"After months of speculation. I think we have finally figured out for sure that we are indeed doing an 'Arrested Development' movie," Tambor said. "I am very excited about that. I love that cast and crew and I felt like we had more to say."

The series, which ran from 2003 to 2006, also starred Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat and David Cross as members of a wealthy Orange County family whose lifestyle is thrown into undendiingly hilarious upheaval when their real estate mogul father is imprisoned for fraud.

While no casting announcements have been made, it is likely that all of the principal stars will reprise their roles.

Beloved by critics but never a strong ratings performer, "Development" was canceled in 2006, just a year after it won the Emmy for best comedy.

The slideshow in the link also gives details about future movies... a couple based on videogames, a Terminator sequel, Beverly Hills Cop IV, and another Bourne movie, to name a few...

Damn good show that was cancelled because the public was too busy watching "reality" bullshit.

Arrested Development was the funniest show on television during its run. It's criminal that it got canceled so early, and definitely unfortunate that so few people ever got into it.

Can't wait to see the Bluth family on the big screen.

If you guys haven't watched any Arrested Development, you need to download it or buy it right away. It's a worthwhile investment.

It was great but I wonder where they go in the movie. IMO there were parts of season 3 where they were really stretching for material.

Never watched it when it was airing, but recently started on Hulu. Love the show, I'm on season two.

Hopefully this will create enthusiasm and spark a series return. Gosh, I missed Gob, tobias and George Michael.

They need to make a whole other movie about Tobias.
