View Full Version : The Clippers might be relevant again....say it ain't so!

With Baron Davis opting out there is a very good chance he ends up with the Clippers and Brand resigns. Baron is from LA and has always wanted to play here, and quite frankly the Clippers are the perfect situation for him. There isn't much pressure at all on the Clippers to win anything, and their fans certainly have zero expectations about their team at this point.

Their future roster could look like this next season:

PG: Baron Davis
SG: Mobley
SF: Magette
PF: Brand
C: Kaman

They also have some good young talent developing in Al Thornton and they just picked up that PG Gordon. If this goes down then I guess we gotta throw another name into the hat of WC playoff teams.

According to my inside sources, this is a VERY likely possibility. Do not be surprised if this news breaks later this week. Expect both Baron and Brand to take a cut that none of you would have expected them to take. Baron is going home.

Hope so. A starting 5 of
PG Davis
SG Mobley
SF Thornton
PF Brand
C Kamen

with a bench of Gordon, Thomas, and Knight would be pretty sweet.

I like rooting for the clippers so him signing there would make that very cool.

Do it Baron! :tu

Warriors just slapped Baron in the face with a max offer on Gilbert

Mags would be out in that scenario

But if the Clippers re-sign Brand, they wouldn't be able to offer Baron max deal type money. They could give Baron a nice contract around $11-13 a year, but not max money.

Expect both to take surprising cuts

Baron isn't looking for max money. He just wants long-term security. 5 years, 60 million is the reported deal. Brand is probably going to net a little higher than that.

That would make the Clippers a team to take very seriously. We'll see what happens.

And if jordan does eventually develop into the next bynum they have a good chance of contending.

It would be an excellent move for the Clippers, but all signs point to them not resigning Maggette ii they get Davis. There's no way they can afford to sign Brand, Davis, AND Maggette.

That would be a great deal with for the Clips if they can pull it off. I'd miss Magette though.

Is it a forecast or prediction when you claim "inside sources?"

Or are your sources of the supernatural realm?

Naw I live in LA. One of my co-workers has been a season ticket holder for years now. He has good friends in the Clips front office. He was telling me about it first thing this morning, cause he knows how big of an NBA fan I am. I just didn't think it was going to happen that fast.

Davis verbally agrees to go to Clippers, leave Warriors...

So Davis gave up some money to go with the Clips, I expect Brand to do so as well.

How much do you want to bet Barron blows out a knee or something else now.

The Clips will have a nice team if everyone is healthy. Provided the Warriors stay competitive the West just got a little tougher.

anyone feel like this is because Nelly benched him the whole second half of that one game?

Putting aside your trolling tendencies for one minute.... do you think

Kaman + Brand + Davis > Oden + Aldridge + Roy

I think this puts the Clipps past the Blazers.
