... I just finished my thesis and now have a Masters in Resources, Environment and Society. Sounds like a wank, but actually, if you think about it, it's a perfect description of what runs the world - society is entirely dependent on resources and the environment.

Thank the Universe it's finally done! I haven't felt this relaxed since my last trip to SA. :D

Next step, save the world... :lmao

Seriously though, it will be really nice to get back into the workforce and not have to study, although I will continue to do some smaller courses on the side to add skills.

Congratulations on your Masters degree. Now get a job!

Just in case you don't know, I have spent most of my adult life in the workforce! ;)

Congrats. How long had you been working on that thesis? Seems like a long time.

Yeah, it seemed like it took a long time because it did! I was meant to finish last year, December, but two projects fell over on me (data not turning up, etc), so I eventually went off and found my own project. Finished the field work for that in May, then wrote it up in June... basically, 15,000 words in a week. Funny how these things just pour out, but that is the way I work best.

Anyway, it's done, hallejulah! :)

Sabar - maybe later! :lol

Thanks to everyone else for the kind words. Study really doesn't mean much to anyone except the person doing it (and possibly their parents), but it is nice to share personal milestones.

Congrats ya smart bastard.

What sort of job does that sort of thing lead into Ruff?

So Ruff, you headed out to WA? I would think that with credentials like that, there would be a need for folks like you out in the Pilbara. Single guy like you, a FIFO lifestyle could be an adventure (not to mention lucrative).

Great job, Ruff! :) I got my MBA in 2005, and I know exactly how much effort goes into a graduate degree. Drink a cold beer or two- you've earned it!

Thanks also to the rest of you. ;) :D

As for WA, nah. My focus is more on the people element of resource consumption than the actual engineering. I'm going to work in education and implementing environmental management systems in companies at a policy level. In 5 years I want to be working for myself as an EMS consultant with an ephasis on education, because quite frankly, education is the doorway to the future.

BTW, I will be back around ST again, I'm just taking a break during the crazy season. People get so worked up during the FA period and I find it stressful, so I'm following The Dude and just getting baked and drinking white Russians while playing Medieval Total War (OMG, what a game!) instead.

One day I might get a job... :lol
