Malik is going no where.....this statement should hold itself to be true.... in part because he will not be traded.... nor will he be leaving the bench anytime soon...Like most of our bench, Malik is confined to a specific role with the Spurs...There will be times where Malik's minutes are increased, in most part because he is playing well, sometimes because of matchup issues....Does this sound familiar....Devin Brown?....Brent Barry?....During the early part of the season Devin was playing great ball, while Brent on the other hand not so great.....All be it, Brent has proven himself in this league, but this example is somewhat similar to the situation Malik has found himself in....The difference?....Malik Rose, Brent Barry....two entirely different players, which means two entirely different ways of going about the situation...Brent needed minutes, as well as shots to boost his confidence...Malik on the other hand, usually comes back strong when chastised...So expect Rose to be on the bench for at least another 3 or 4 games, dont be surprised if he doesnt come back until after the all star break....Pop knows what he is doing, yet the media, particularly ESPN, usually becomes bored right around mid season and to draw in hopeless NBA fanatics, they start throwing around trade rumors.... "the rumor mill" :lol .....I am being somewhat sarcastic, but I'm sure there is some truth behind this.....now let me ask you something......why do you think they call it a "rumor"?.....usually because there is little truth behind.....although occasionally they do get it right....but I can go down to ratama park and place a bet, and eventually I'll get it right too.....Dont look too much into Malik/Marshall trade rumors, unless Pop, or someone from the front office comes out and says something. With that being said, lets take a hypothetical look at the possibility of a Malik/Marshall trade.....Malik has played on par for most of the season....although not consistant, but try naming anyone either than Tim Duncan who has put up consistant stats every game....Dont even mention Giniobli or Parker, I'm sure I can go back and find at least one or two games in which they didnt score and they are apart of our starting five, if you want I can go through our bench players as well....So should we trade Giniobli, maybe Parker, why not both.....I'll tell you why not....because a player cannot be judge on his stats alone....and unfortunately many are doing so....how can you compare someone's stats playing a sub-par team at best (being generous) to someone's stats playing on a championship contending team year in and out. Look at Devin Brown's stats this year....not too flashy, yet he is an instrumental piece to this team....not because of what he has to offer night in and night out, becuase of what he offers in certain situations....Although Malik and Devin are two entirely different players, both have something to offer, as do all Spurs players.....The great thing about this Spurs team is that any player at any time can step up and be a key player....This team isnt just about one player....its about the entire team....trading a player during midseason could have some serious consequences, but could also have a positive effect....So is it worth it to trade a player, who at the moment, seems to be ineffective, but during game six of the western conference finals, is the person to seal our trip to the finals..... cough cough...Steve Kerr....who would have expected that...Unless we can get some sort of bargin (steal) for Malik, and I wouldnt consider Marshall a bargin by any means, then Malik will more than likely stay put.... But what do I know....I'm just another Spurs fan...bored...with too much time on my hands (dont tell my professors this).....which is why they pay R.C. the "big bucks" and not me.
P.S. Go easy on me....its my first post... :lol

What if the Spurs start trying to package DEVIN in with Malik in order to get someone to take Malik off their hands? Some team will bite.

Malik's contract MIGHT be too much to take.
I would be hardpressed to throw in Devin.
Give me some names who you would trade Malik AND Devin for, and well see who you get.
Kurt Thomas and Donyell Marshall?
I dont know if they are both worth that much.

The Coach wouldn't trade Brown. He likes the option of playing either Brown or Barry depending on the match up. Further, since the four guard line up is working against the Suns and Sonics, it makes Brown even more important. The only way I see the deal getting done is if the Spurs included a couple of draft picks.

I think some teams would do it. Malik's contract is 3 more years; not a lifetime anymore.
What about Malik, Devin and some cash, picks to Golden State for Dale Davis?
I am not saying that I want Dale Davis, but his $10M in cap space this summer would be sweet.

What if the package was Nene/Lenard/DerMarr for Malik/Brown/crap?
Not that Kiki would do that....

Id do that deal in a new york minute Chump.
Nene, would be a fabulous young big for the Spurs.

It's always been about the contract. Of course if they move Devin then that's one less player they have to concern themselves with re-signing.

The onlly problem with that?? I almost would do that.
Who out there that is a big man, is worth bringing in for about, 6.5 million?

If the Spurs find a suitor for Rose they might as well move him even if the deal doesn't make much basketball sense. This annual drama with Rose being in the doghouse because he looked at Pop funny or whatever needs to stop.

Oh yes, Rose is on the trading block because he looked at Pop funny. Give me a break, it's always been about moving Malik because his contract doesn't fit in their long term plans. Email Ludden and ask him.

Wait, Sparkus -- you said at the beginning of the season that the Spurs recognized Malik's contract as the bargain it is and now Malik would take his rightful place as the Spurs primary backup for the remainder of the contract.
Were you wrong then or are you wrong now?

Haha! I didn't make up a rumor. I said, "What if..." It's a trade scenario idea. I wouldn't even want it to happen because I like Devin's game so much. People name trade ideas all the time.

My point is, they are no better than Rose.
Why rock the boat on a 37-10 "Just to make a trade"
I wouldnt make a trade just to make a trade.
Now if it was Malik straight up for Donyell Marshall, Kurt Thomas, or someone similar? I would do that.
But throwing in Devin Brown, or making a trade for stiffs like Calbert Chaeny, is not making the team better.

Actually, at the beginning of the season I think I typed that you were a nagging bitch in need of either drugs and/or a vibrator. My opinion on that hasn't changed.
As for the Spurs all I said was that they turned down an offer for Rose. Which they did.
