Obviously they're going to have to rotate some teams because of the OKC move.

What happens?

1. Iowa is not in the southwest.
2. Missouri is not in the southwest.
3. Arkansas is not in the southwest.
4. Tennessee is not in the southwest.
5. Mississippi is not in the southwest.

I know this is off topic, and I know the divisions are made up to relate to general area and keep the teams close.. but that whole map looks fucking retarded.

They'll stay in the NW.

If I had any say in making these divisions make a little more sense after the move it would look like this.

OK City would move into the Southwest.
Memphis would join the Eastern Conference in the Southeast.
Washington would move into the Atlantic.
Toronto would move into the Central.
Finally, Milwaukee would join the Western Conference in the Northwest.

the bucks in the NW? NOPE! :lol Only coz i support the Nuggets and i like the Bucks coz of Bogut/Redd......... id hate if they both played in the West coz you can't support 2 western teams.

they have to stay in the NW...
otherwise, the NW becomes EVEN more pathetic....

Divisions are cyclical. Teams are never indefinitely good or bad. Otherwise, the Hornets would still be awesome from their Larry Johnson days, and Cleveland would never ever make the playoffs, let alone the Finals.

Its a stretch, but they will stay in the northwest

I brought this up a few months ago, but here's my proposal for a potential realignment.

Eastern Conference
Atlantic
Stays put

Central
Chicago
Detroit
Cleveland
Indiana
Washington

Southeast
Atlanta
Charlotte
Memphis
Miami
Orlando

Western Confrernce
Pacific
stays put

Southwest
Dallas
Houston
New Orleans
OKC
San Antonio

Northwest
Denver
Milwaukee
Portland
Minnesota
Utah

This makes the most sense geographically, if that's what the NBA is shooting for.

the divisions will remain exactly the same.

+1 The NW stretched 3 time zones before, and it still will.

They just did a MAJOR realignment, and may have to do another one (eight 4 team divisions) if they expand by two teams. This one team move doesn't merit one.

There is no need to do anything until the Grizzlies move to Seattle. Then the newly christened SuperSonics can switch places with the Dokies.

That'll be a while.
Grizz locked in pretty good. (http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2008/feb/29/grizzlies-are-not-leaving/)

the Bucks will go to the NW Division, Memphis joins the SE division and finally, Seattle/OKC will be in the SW division.

I'll sig bet anyone that the NBA doesn't change a thing, division-wise, for this one team move. The NW division is already a mess, spanning 3 time zones. This move doesn't change that at all. No need to F up any of the other divisions when there may be future moves or expansions to account for.

Get rid of divisions. Top 8 teams from each conference make playoffs. Division championships don't mean shit.
