The Ninja 250 is about $3500-$4000. The scooter is about $5000-$6000

I would definitely chose the sport bike......for cheaper and better looks IMHO. A guy I work with bought this exact scooter. I was like :vomit:

I see I'm not the only one looking at scooters. Are you doubting thomas?

I'm thinking about a purchase like this too. I'm actually leaning towards getting a bike.
That Vespa for 5K??? wow, I thought I saw other brands at Alamo Cycle Plex for less than that, for 5K you could get a bigger bike I assume. I really just started looking at this stuff so I'm no expert by any means :lol

Vespas are like the Benz of scooters......you can get others for less. Also, I personally would only want a 250cc bike for my needs. Great gas mileage and not overkill on speed. It still looks good as well.

I have a feeling we'll be see more scooters and the roads in the months ahead. I've already noticed a few around Converse.

do they both get the same gas mileage? because with the price of gas i don't care what it looks like as long as it gets some bad ass gas mileage.

Joe thats inevitable. Those scooters get like 115 MPG so that got my attention seriously. Motorcylces I don't really know how much they do, but I'm all ears and just started looking around at this.

Yep, 70-80mpg......they both have the same size motor. 250cc
For some reason the Ninja is much faster though. The scooter tops out at 80, the Ninja tops out 120-130

70-80 mpg. damn I am seriously thinking this would be a good move with gas prices how they are. think i might be doing some research on which bike to get
N.Y. Johnny
07-03-2008, 11:08 AM
what do regular bikes get? They don't get that good mileage?
If its between that style of bike like that Ninja up there or the scooter I'll go with a scooter.

The ONLY way its really a good move is if your car is already paid off.......and use the money selling it for the bike. To either purchase the bike right off the bat, or start over on financing......it would take years to make up the difference in cash spent on gas vs the purchace.

Brother, where I live going back and forth at 115 MPG would be a huge difference. I looked at these things and I don't like the style of bike of the Ninja
I do like this style, a Honda Nighthawk but I really don't know much about it. I looked at them at the Cycle plex but in a hurry.

the ninja will always hold its value man
if those starter bikes for learners will always hold there value due to the demand for it and the low lvl CC they can ride only for first year license holders

Ninja's are nice but everyone and their grandmother has one. I will be going a different route and getting a Buell 1125R
http://www.motorsports-network.com/buell/081125R344.jpg
Or, if your purelly looking for gas saver, try the Buell Blast. 70Mpg and its around $5000.00
http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/Gallery/Buell%20Blast.jpg
Also, have you ever ridden a bike? If not, be aware that you WILL lay it down at some point and a bike with full body farrings is expensive to repair. You might also want to look at the Kawasaki naked bikes.

Get The Prius it kicks the Smart cars ass in every way. You may have to wait 6 months to find one though.

Also if you don't want to shift and want a cool bike/scooter it's the Burgman 650 or 400 fast nice bikes.http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2006models/2006-Suzuki-Burgman125b-small.jpg

smart cars are pointless...they use premium fuel and get about 40 mpg on a very good day. Just buy a versa, civic, or a prius if you dont mind the stigma behind it

The new Indians are Frankensteined together from other bike parts. Unless you get vintage, you're paying out the ass for a low rear fender and a logo.

malibu hybrids get poor mileage -heard around 30 MPG, which my 02 saturn gets anyway.

Vespas are very outdated…I agree that the Burgman scooters are the best value…Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha all make nice scooters…

Guys don't ride scooters. That's just weirdo. In town there's like 5 women that roll around on scooters. Dumb asses need to learn how to signal.

imo
That Buell 1125R retails for 12K.
How is a 12K purchase supposed to save you right now at the pump? For a minimal investment buy a low end sportsbike to save on gas. Scooters are fine.....for gay men and ladies (IMO).

Get a cruiser-style bike. They don't look lame although they get worse mpg (still better than cars).

I personally am not looking specifically at saving at the pump. I just want a sportbike. Besides, the 1125R is guarunteed to save me some cash at the pump compared to what Im driving now. Im only getting about 13mpg at this point.

Zero-emissions. it has 2 wheels, side-by-side and is self-balancing like a segway. Its also electric.
Its still a concept though...
