Just wanted to say that I recently ran the Rio de Janeiro International Marathon last Sunday, which was my second marathon. I have also done Sao Paulo. I'm also going to run in the San Antonio Rock n Roll Marathon this fall, so that should be fun. Anyway, just wanted to know if there are any other runners around here and, if so, I'd like to know who is planning on running in the Rock n Roll Marathon in San Antonio this fall.

The Rio marathon was well-organized, very sunny and on the warm side. It was definitely not an easy course, but I ran a smart race and felt tremendous until about 2 miles left, then I had to dig deep to maintain my kick and achieve my time goal. The course started on the western outskirts of the city in Recreio and went basically on a closed thoroughfare along all the beaches - Recreio, Barra da Tijuca, Sao Conrado, Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana, and into Flamengo for the finish. The finish line was across the lagoon from Sugar Loaf mountain, where Jaws bit the cable in Moonraker (007 film). Great race!

Anyway, here's the link. I'll also post some photos when they are finally made available:

I've always had massive respect for anyone that can do a marathon.

I'd love to do one but I am too fat and my fee are too flat. :lol

I'm working on training for the full marathon in San Antonio. This will be my first and the farthest "race" I've ever thought about. I've been trying to keep up with my training program, but life keeps getting in the way.

people need to stop saying they can't do a marathon. My wife had never jogged in her life until 3 years ago. She has asthma and thought she wouldn't be able to BUT she started out slowly and we started running just a couple of kilometres. She got serious about it late last year and 3 months later she ran a marathon.

Anyone can do it if they really want to, you just have to decide if you want to or not. I've done a few half marathons and am still considering running a marathon. I know i can do it but im not sure if i want to :lol

Im living in Lesotho, just across the border in South Africa they have the Comrades Marathon, it is 84km long!!

I'm going to do my second half marathon in December. I'm too lazy to train for a full one.

My older brother completed his first Iron Man a few months ago. Fucking crazy. He's a damn good runner and biker, but can't swim for shit.
