On draft night 3 yrs ago he measured 6-10 w/o shoes so he is 6-11

I watched him in the couple games he played for all of 2 mins and when he stands by duncan he looks to be same size he is just biult smaller across shoulder so he looks a bit smaller

right which leads me to believe he is at least 6-11....really doesnt matter he has a 7-5 wing spand and a 35 in vjump so 610-611 whats the diff

I don't know where you got that info, but he wasn't measured on draft night and he wasn't included in the Chicago/Orlando pre-draft measurements.

But I do think he might be close to 6'11.

I believe he got the information directly from Mahinmi's agent. Agents discuss that kind of stuff with one another. ;)

Between 6'10 and 7 feet doesn't really matter with Mahinmi because his wingspan is so large. Hopefully he can adapt to the NBA quickly and not just be a foul magnet.

I can't believe that I am saying this, but if Mahinmi shows Amare-like talent I will be extremely excited.

Amare averages 25/9/2. If Mahinmi averaged 70% of that after a few years, I'd be overjoyed.

Yeah that would be horrible if he turned out to be a freakin all star center.

WTF!?!?

First Nocioni is bad, now you hope hes not like Amare Stoudamire?

good lord.

The size I've heard for Mahinmi was 209cm without shoes last year.
209cm = 6'10.3
With shoes he should be at 6'11.5

HAHA....what i mean is, to not be that smart of a player.

amare is always in foul trouble and i hope that mahimni doesnt seem that way. i saw him play in the DLEAGUE allstar game and iwas questioning his basketball smarts. he doesnt look like the sharpest tool in the shed to me.

thats what i mean people. haha

I'm just curious if anyone knows how fluent Ian is in English. I'm wondering if Pop or the staff will ever have trouble communicating (I know Parker could translate, but it would be nice if they didn't need him all the time).

He spoke English before we drafted him. In France, most people speak fairly good English.

There´s a stupid thing in the NBA

6-9 is Undersized, 6-10 is Nice, 6-11 is Good and 7´is amazing

Then, Tim Duncan is the Best PF of the History with 6-11, but he would be 2 inches lowest, apparently he was unable to play as a Center

That´s Bull shit

Rasho Nesterovich is a 7 footer, and he´s not a key player, Amare is 6-9 and Big Ben is Like 6-8, and both can play Center too better than Rasho

Charles Brkley is 6-5 and he´s one of the Best All Time PF,a nd what About Larry "Grand Ma-Ma"

oh i can see ian as a foul magnet already....but if his play like Blocking shots, Rebounding, Quick to the rotation, then with the rest of our bigs we will be fine. and come seasons end, PO ready(duncan will finally get his help)......if he chokes then what different does any of his height and span equal.....nada

I think Ian looks like Amare in physical built...Ian also have very good vertical, muscles size and athleticism....i wish he works with Cuip for his shooting and FT, as well as ability to hink like a guard: that will make him smarter in terms of positioning and finding open spaces. Other option is he become a dunker inside ring which going to be a cool thing to watch. He also need to work on defense and watch out for fouls (he can learn this from our main guy Duncan)

OK, are we talking pre-injury Amare or post-injury Amare, because pre-injury Amare was out of this world. I don't think Ian could match that on his best day. He does have hops and a wingspan, but he needs to bulk up more. Amare is just a FREAK.

Post injury Amare, since he shoots alot more. I think thats what Ian needs to work on. I like his stats in D League. I saw some of his games, and he got no problem dunking, blocking, rebounding and tipping the ball to the hoops. Boy got potential and his muscles are bigger than two years ago.

When he found his middle range shooting and FT...thats when he gets real scarry. Because we got Duncan on the post, so more likely Duncan will be alone if Ian keep hitting his middle range. KT can just sucks balls (last year he got paid more than $8 mill for his performance. Not bad performance but not fucking enough for that price. Remember CM get paid $7 mill last time). He also need to play to be a garbage man, because Duncan is settled on with hooks n bank shots rather than forcing his way to the rim and dunk (He's not dunking as much as before).

He's really young, same age as Bynum... He's a D League All Star averaging 17,7 points last season... He's former volley ball so he got vertical (have u guys seen his block? Thats sick).
Its time for him to learn to stay away from foul and play smart. He's lucky he got Duncan and Chip to help his shoots

Brutalis
07-06-2008, 03:24 AM
I have honestly hoped to anything good in this world than Ian can develop his instinctive approach to defense. He is too methodical, or you could say makes too many stupid mistakes that seem to be habits. He is young enough to change them however.

What worries me is he was in foul trouble a lot even in the D League. And they way they call shit now days I just don't know how he is going to turn out. It's a true roll of the dice with Ian this season. Make or break time.

He is not former volley ball player. The French former volley ball player prospect was Sidiki Sidibe (Shaq body with zero BB skill). I think he still play for real madrid in one of the spanish lower league.
As a kid Ian played soccer (as most kids here).

there's no reason he shouldn't get playing time next year..

he's raw, but he fills a need..he's an athletic big man, which is something Timmy can use next to him..

all Mahinmi has to do is block shots, rebound and dunk..he's gonna be playing with a top 10 player of all-time, the best coach in the NBA IMO..even The Admiral is around often, so he'll be learning from 2 of the best big men of all-time..

he doesn't need to do much on this team..
