How can they have a ranking when hardly any of these guys have played one game of summer league... :sleep

Interesting that he put Gist ahead of Hairston...

ESPN, 2 weeks ago : "Spurs are stupid because they have drafted George Hill over Mario Chalmers and CDR."

ESPN today :

20. George Hill
32. Chris Douglas-Roberts
35. Mario Chalmers

OK...

George Hill
Point Guard
San Antonio Spurs
Rookie Rank: 20
Age: 22
Height: 6-2 Weight: 180

David Thorpe's Analysis
July 07, 2008

A surprising draft choice for the Spurs, but one that makes sense to anyone who saw the Spurs' lack of athleticism off the bench during the postseason. Hill could be surprisingly productive in San Antonio.

this list is dumb to have now.

...and if anything from a rocket's fan perspective joey dorsey should be in donte greene's spot. greene immature talented 19 year old...dorsey mature hard working 24 year old ready to bang and bruise.

Greene has a ton of upside, Dorsey aint going to get much better than he is.

I knew this kind of thing was going to happen after just one day of summer league, where Beasley excelled and Rose was average. It just shows how easily influenced many sportswriters are. A month before the draft, Beasley was the consensus #1, then a week before the draft Rose was the best player (for some reason it was suddenly an absolute necessity to have a great point guard, just as a few years ago it was considered wisest to go with a big like Bogut over Chris Paul...), and now, once again, Beasley is better. George Hill has jumped 20 spots without playing a game. CDR, who almost everybody had going in the first round, is suddenly a second round talent. A lot of sportswriters are like teenage girls debating who's the cutest pop singer. This list will change hourly.

Because he played with the Spurs for a just a few minutes in a few regular season games, does that mean Mahinmi is no longer an NBA rookie?

Hill's stock does seem to be rising. But it doesn't mean squat what writers think. The truth will come out. Also, IMO Oden is not overrated. IF he can stay healthy (which is really the big ? for him), he will have an impact in the NBA.
