Portland's James Jones is likely to ink a long-term deal (I've been told its going to be either four or five years) with Miami.

P.S.

I thought the Heat were trying to shed longterm salary? :huh

Another forward ?
They still have Marion, Beasley and Haslem. They also have Dorell Wright as FA.

A Marion trade should be in the works.

I havent seen a lot of James Jones but if he can create his own shot he is a great sign for them

He's mostly a spot up shooter. Great shooter though.

Jones will be great when he will receive the ball when Shaq will be double in the post.

lets hope this is true too....if both james and pietrus are officially off the spurs list of players to pick from........im happy........ones over raided, and over paid, and the other is lazy, and over paid....something the spurs cant afford......im liking the radar so far....

Jones is a nice player. Good 3pt stroke and plays pretty good defense at his position. A solid role player for the MLE price IMHO. He'd be a great fit on a championship team, not sure what he's doing in MIA though.

What he is doing in Miami is securing his future since he doesn't seem to be fully healed from his knee issues last year. That's why he was harping on a long term deal. Dude is just a one dimentional player who only shoots threes. I used to be a fan, but think he is a bit overrated especially if he got the MLE.

He is just what another poster stated, a Kapono replacement.

we're gonna diddle away the summer waiting for Maggot and find out there aren't any good FAs left when he goes somewhere else.

I was hoping the Spurs would go after Jones. He is like Finley but a better shooter, not as streaky, and a better defender. I watch the Blazers a lot and for much of the season he was one of their best players. oh well.

James Jones has just signed a five year contract with Miami.

One less Guard/Forward player available to the Spurs.

Yeah, but it's also one less team with money to throw at a player the Spurs want.
