View Full Version : The Blazers' incomparable talent

The Blazers have the following lottery picks on their squad:

Oden #1
Aldridge #2
LaFrentz #3
Roy #6
Webster #6
Frye #8
Diogu #9
Bayless #11
Przybilla #9

And Rudy would be a top-10 pick this year easily. Is there any doubt that this team will dominate the league for the next decade?

Dude, you are quickly approaching LakerFan ground, and believe me when I say this, it's a very hard thing to achieve.

For f... sake we get that the Blazers have a lot of young talent, now let's see them play before we crown them.

I would like to see them move a wing and a pick in a sign and trade for Posey.

I still don't understan how Bayless fits with this team. A scoring PG doesn't make sense. I would have been a lot more excited had they traded for Westbrook.

Bayless fits perfectly. Brandon Roy will be the distributor.

I know Roy will handle the ball primarily but I don't see your #1 scorer as being an effective distributor. They needed a selfless defender at the point. With range if they're lucky.

Until Oden proves to be close to fully healthy in a game that has any signifance, so are the Blazers.

Since when does top 10 draft pick mean they will automatically be solid players?

Tully365

It all hinges on Oden. If he doesn't live up to the hype, or has problems staying out of foul trouble or has a Ralph Sampson-like injury history, then this team will be another Golden State. For the record, I like Oden and hope he makes it...

This isn't the first Blazers team with a bunch of high lottery picks on the squad. The 2000-01 team had Sheed Wallace, Pippen, Steve Smith, Damon Stoudamire, Detlef Schrempf, Brian Grant, Stacey Augmon, Jermaine O'Neal, Bonzi Wells, Greg Anthony, and Arvydas Sabonis.

It has nothing to do with my position.

At any rate, this thread was about the Blazers' "incomparable" talent, with you listing how high the players on the Blazers' roster were drafted as evidence of this "talent."

My first post offered the roster of the Chicago Bulls and where their players were drafted. Wouldn't you say the Bulls roster has "comparable" talent based on where they were collectively drafted? I would.

Pretty much means this thread is wrong.

Your "position" is that you consider the Blazers a doughnut team until Oden plays a game. You said as much. I was responding to the following statement by you...

I said it wasn't about my position.

I also started a new paragraph and wrote, "At any rate." Meaning it was another point, an additional point, a different point. I mentioned my other point because when I listed the Bulls roster, you didn't respond or even acknowledge that the Bulls' roster had "comparable" talent based on where their players were drafted. The Bulls' roster does have comparable talent to Portland's roster. That's my point.

That makes your thread wrong.

No it doesn't. The average draft position of the Blazers' lottery players is 6.1. The average draft position of the Bulls' lottery players is 7.1. Besides that, anyone can see that their talent is not comparable.

JamStone
07-09-2008, 09:03 PM
Top 9 players for Blazers. Top 10 players for Bulls.

Take the top 10 players for Bulls to make it fair. That makes the average position for the Bulls' top 9 players is 6.2.

Comparable.

And, if it wasn't about draft position and you can just see that the Bulls' roster isn't comparable, why is the first post about when the Blazers players were selected in their drafts?

It's not about my belief. What don't you get?

Your thread was about how the Blazers had "incomparable talent" and used their draft positions as your point in proving it. I provide a roster that has "comparable" draft positions with the players on their roster and you make it about my position or my belief.

It's using your logic to disprove your contention.

So many lottery picks, wow, awesome.

Who will they select with the 2009, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 lottery picks?

Oh, the thrill of waiting draft day to arrive, only one night at the year, but what a night!
