A sport newspaper in Spain will publish tomorrow in its front page that Jorge Garbajosa has two offers from Spurs and Lakers.

http://www.marca.com/primeras/08/07/0711.html

Tomorrow I'll buy the newspaper and I'll try to translate the news.

PS: Garbajosa=Garbage. I don't want him in SA next season, he's still injuried. :bang

For what little money the Spurs have left, it makes some sense.

I like my NBA players to be ambulatory though....

Didn't we already wade through a similar foreign report that the Spurs had offered Delfino?

That might be the only time we have 'wade' 'Spurs' and 'offered' in the same sentence.....

And hell no to Garbage-hosa

Obvously the initial reaction to this report isn't very good so I'm probably at risk saying this, but actually I don't think he is that bad.

We get almost every Raptors game up here in Canada, and the year he played regularily for him he was actually a very big part of their team and a solid contibutor. Not a great scorer but a pretty good all around game. Rebounds and assists and was there energy type of player and made plays on defence.

Obviously some more injury concerns after this but I guess beggers can't be choosers with only 2 mil left.

If his leg is completely healed, Garbajosa is about the best big man they'll get for the little bit of money they have left to offer. Good value.

If you are opposed: name another 6'9" or bigger player with more skills & toughness who will play for less than 2 mil a year.

If his leg is healed he could be a steal.

I agree, this guy is a good hustle player and passes well, would provide good rebounding from the SF position. let him back a Bowen for some minutes and give Udoka the minutes you would give Finley. I would take a chance on him.

Didn't Garbajosa get bought out to play overseas?

Not sure. I know the Raptors bought him out because he lost his starting spot after the injury. Went from about 25mpg player down to 10mpg. Raptors just bought him out to end it. I thin Moon took his spot on the Raptors

Maybe someone could fuse the two together and then cut each of their salaries by 1/3-- good way to save some money. Then sign Shaun Livingston and see who can recover from a famous youtube injury faster...

No way. If the Spurs sign Garbagosa I'll contract a hit and see to it that he doesn't sign a deal. That would be the worst.

My God, I'm really hoping for Delfino at this point.

garbajosa is pretty versatile for a big man. he cant shoot the 3, he can rebound, and he can pass decently. either that or get a center with stone hands.

i think Pop perfers big men with brains, then big men with bronze

Didn't Garbajosa get bought out to play overseas?

About midway through the 2006-2007 season he blew out his ACL. He was asked by the team to rest over the summer, but after it had marginally healed after surgery he went and played for his country.

That pissed off Toronto, and he aggravated his knee problems because he hadn't give himself the appropriate amount of time to heal, so he missed all of the 2007-2008 season.

This summer he is playing for his country again in the Olympics. Toronto asked him to sit out to finish recuperating the knee problem or they were going to buy him out. He said he wasn't sitting the Olympics out, so they bought him out and told him to take a hike.

Oh, Gabajosa was way better for the Raptors than Bonner. Garbojosa reminds a lot of Scola, not flashy, a hustle player but he has better shooting range.
