Not bad for a second round pick.

And our first round pick?

George Hill, the Spurs’ first-round draftee, had another rocky game at the offensive end of the court, missing all six of his shots. He is 0 for 16 in his last two games, and 2 for 25 in the summer league.

*sigh* If he can't get his shots in summer league he sure as hell isn't gonna do it with A league defenders on him.

First, it was Lebron... then Kobe. And Tim and Chris and Dwight and Yao and all the others... except Shaq, Amare, Steve...
All were leaving the USA for Italy.

Angelico - Bancatercas Teramo 78-83 Angelico - Bancatercas Teramo 78-83

Teramo once bitter for Angelico Biella. The first league game before the public sees the fact rossoblu exit from the parquet defeated 78-83 after leading almost uninterruptedly for 36 minutes.

The first quarter of a race (the original quintet Smith, Aradori, Jerebko, Gist and Garry) suggests a different outcome: the Angelic party suffered a partial 7-2, Teramo suffering from the absence of forced Playmaker Poet and Piazza and not find a way to curb Joe Smith almost perfect.

A foul antisportivo Hoover Smith sends precisely on our play in bezel for maximum advantage (24-13), still in possession touched before Jaacks shorten the 28-19.

Highest scoring after just ten minutes but after the triple Aradori in the opening of the second quarter and a host time out, comes the reaction of Teramo building a partial 8-0 in their favor. Smith, Garry and Gist (his spectacular crushed to 42-33) but are able to respond, and the range is still arriving along the 7 Biella (42-35).

Al rientro in campo, coach Capobianco rischia Hoover (3 falli) in play e va a cercare i suoi terminali offensivi Brown e Carroll venendo ampiamente ripagato. To return to camp, coach Capobianco threatens Hoover (3 failures) in play and goes to look for his offensive terminals Brown and Carroll coming largely repaid. After an initial assault dismissed by a triple Spinelli, is a partial (8-0), signed by the two Americans to give the first advantage in Teramo three minutes from the third siren.

This time the reaction is of the angel, which centers with three triple Gaines and Jerebko, but Teramo is now firmly back in the game and do not frighten the minibreak rossoblu which come in the last quarter bringing more times a Angelico to +6.

E 'especially Brandon Brown to be a puzzle, but the balance coming from a basket of Carroll a little less than two minutes from the end (76-76). Next in Smith earns two free and puts them both, but still Brown (2 +1) leads ahead Teramo. It should not be a Triple Smith, Hoover slips and loses the ball, but not even enter the conclusion of the distance of Gaines.

The decisive action at 20 "from the term, with Moss that forced Smith to foul antisportivo: 1 / 2 by the bezel and 2 1 of the Moss nell'extrapossesso following are the four points which closed the account in favor of the host team.

ANGELICO BIELLA - BANCA TERCAS TERAMO 78-83 ANGELICO BIELLA - BANK Tercas TERAMO 78-83

I'll try to find the box. Not much more besides that.

Stats game per game for Gist :
http://195.56.77.208/player/pbd.phtml?ply=GIS-JAM-86&year=2008&team=1156&type2=d1&name_search=Gist

I don't know how to rate the competition, but the stats suggest he continues to play away from the hoop, much like summer league. Overall the numbers and minutes are encouraging for a prospect. Good to see his outside shot is still there. I wish his rebound rate were slightly higher, but two games is not much data. Looks like he is scoring on dunks and threes.

Looks like Sharrod Ford owned that first game.

Just keep in mind that the 3 point line is significantly shorter in Europe (20'6" in Europe against 23'9" in NBA).

Registered. Still range from 21' for a transition PF is positive.

If he came back improved for summer league 2009, I hope it would be in his handle. No way to assess that via stats.

James Gist doesn't need help but if he were to ever call on someone for help, which he doesn't need, he would call DeJuan Blair.

Yep. Too bad it is looking more and more unlikely that Gist is able to play the perimeter effectively, at least this year.

What happened to the GIST from last SL!? GIST has not been 'Phenomenal' in these first two SL games from this year...

Gist is probably going through the growing pains of playing on the perimeter. I'm not sure what he learned about the team game from Europe translates to these SL games. I don't think he should be judged solely by his lackluster play for the last two games. In some small ball situations he could probably still play the 4 and be the hustle guy that he was last year. Of course it's important for him to show an ability to exist on the outside. However, I think it's wrong to force him completely away from his strengths.

We'll see how this plays out. I wonder if the FO is waiting to see how Gist performs on the perimeter before making a decision to pursue packaging Bonner and Finley in a trade. It seems clear that Bonner is low on their depth chart with all the talk of needing an ass-kicking 4 and with the signing of the long-range shooting Haislip. Again, we'll see what happens next.

Personally, I think they should move Bonner and Finley ASAP. Given the winds of sanity that have been blowing through Spurs land, it actually might be considered.
