I got an email from a coworker on Obama's proposed tax plan vs. McCain's. Some of you may have also received it. As is usually the case when I receive these sorts of emails, I checked Snopes for more information.

Here is the Snopes link which includes the original email.

Thoughts? Anything that was not addressed?

:lol

Actually my intent wasn't to uncover misleading emails, I'd like to get a discussion going about the candidates' tax plans that goes beyond "McCain will rob from the poor and give to the OilCos" and "Obama will tax us all into the Stone Age."

McStupid's plan is basically to maintain all of dubya's tax cuts as permanent, add more tax cuts for the top 2% (includes he and his wife), fuck everybody else, while promising a balanced budget by 2012. The numbers simply don't add up, are laughed at by serious number crunchers.

His health care plan is equally inane.

What? You want a substantive discussion that isn't just a bunch of rabblerousing and mudslinging?

As the post above this one shows, at least I now know that Spurminator is the last real optimist in this forum.

I honestly haven't studied the plans of either candidate in any detail -- most of the difference in the tax structures that they propose has only a moderate effect upon me and taxes are a fairly low priority for me in choosing a candidate. I think my biggest concern in this realm is finding a solution that is better than spending massive amounts of money while diminishing the funds that are available to support such expenditures. I'm not sure that a tax plan can be truly analyzed without also considering a spending plan.

Do you pay any taxes right now? Or just mooch?

It's funny that you bag on McCain's plan and the numbers. Have you looked at your boy Obama's plan?

I made my statement about McSenile's tax plan, which you haven't offered any comment on, typical content-free post by Aggie.

you're welcome to make a statement about HUSSEIN's tax plan, and go fuck yourself.

2centsworth says Obama will take rich people's money and "re-distribute" it evenly among the poor. Is this true?

What they both propose is irrelavant. What matters is what congress votes for and they approve or veto. With the Bush tax cuts ready to expire soon, we can expect to see higher rates for all. The republicans will likely stall any changes unless they keep everybody's rates lower than before the tax cuts. That means the poor and middleclass will get hit with the expiration too.

let me simplify the complicated for you. The bottom 50% of wage earners pay virtually 0 income taxes. Any tax cut obviously would benefit the people who pay taxes.
