Could be interesting...

Baron Davis / Monta Ellis
Kobe Bryant / Corey Maggette / Kevin Martin
Ron Artest / Stephen Jackson
Pau Gasol / Marcus Camby / Al Harrington
Andrew Bynum / Chris Kaman

Tony Parker / Jason Kidd
Manu Ginobili / Jerry Stackhouse / Jason Terry
Tracy McGrady / Josh Howard
Dirk Nowitzki / Luis Scola / Brandon Bass
Tim Duncan / Yao Ming

I know some may agree with all the players I chose, but that's my opinion on who my 12 for each state would be.

Obvious edge to Texas. combining the rosters of 3 50+ teams is more lethal than combining the roster of #1 seed + 3 lottery teams.

between Kobe, Baron, Artest, & Stephen Jackson, that Cali team would have a complete meltdown on the court.

meanwhile a starting 5 of Parker, Ginobili, McGrady, Dirk, & Duncan combines 4 of the best teammates in the NBA with 1 incredible athletic talent in T-Mac. I'd almost rather have Battier or Bowen start over T-Mac just to have a completely selfless team on the court that can bust your ass in every way possible.

Very interesting concept.

Without stating who would win in such a matchup, these are my observations:

1) Yao is going to get run ragged by the run & gun lineups the Cali team can throw out there.

2) Dirk and Duncan? Yowza.

3) With Artest and Maggette, Cali's swingmen are more than capable of posting up their Texas equivalents.

Cali 3 - Texas 1

Postseason Series

Texas 4 - Cali 2

Cali Coaches - Jackson, Nellie, Dunleavy, Theus

TX Coaches - Pop, Bud, Adelman, whoever the hell Dallas signed

Did Jerry Brown lead the United States into an ill-advised war wasting trillions of dollars in the process? Did Jerry Brown destroy any credibility the United States has around the world? Did Jerry Brown alienate the nation by pursuing an aggressive values based campaign?

You lose. It would be forgivable if the people of Texas had enough fucking sense to not vote this dumbfuck into office the 2nd time around........

actually, GW was born in Connecticut.....and his family moved here when he was young.

BTW.....Reagan, from Cali made Bush his VP....this brought the Bush name into national prominence. So, thanks to Cali, we have a "TEXAN" in the White House.

I take Texas. From a coaching standpoint Pop actually built his own team as opposed to looking for teams that have superstar players ie Coach Coat tails. Then you look at the big men and it’s not even close. I don’t think anyone talks about any other place scarier to play then the “Texas Triangle”

On an off note. I was completely unaware that Texas was the only state that counted when it came to voting. That also makes us better.

Seriously, a lineup of Kidd, Ginobili, T-Mac, Dirk, and Duncan is out of this world. I know Spurs fans get a hard-on over Tony Parker, but Jason Kidd would fit this lineup better, as they would not need a scorer, but someone to simply pass, rebound, and defend.

in all honesty though, i wouldnt mind replacing T-mac with Bowen (as mono said), because the team already has three guys that are unstoppable at scoring in 3 different ways (Dirk - Shooting and High post scoring, Ginobili - Shooting and penetration scoring, Duncan - Post scoring), a pure distributer in Kidd, and a defensive specialist in Bowen who also is unstoppable with that corner 3, which he will thrive off of even more with the additions of Kidd and Dirk. Dirk is the weakest defender on the team, but even his defense is not bad at all, especially considering the crap he has had for centers to back him up. Now he will have an all-time great post defender in Tim Duncan, which should help his defense quite a bit, not to mention everyone else on the team are AT LEAST very solid defenders. it would be a completely selfless team that can score in so many ways, and has virtually no weakness that isnt covered up by one another. This would be a perfect example of the "perfect team" in that they would work together and be selfless and cover up each others weaknesses with their own strengths.

very intriguing, but I think i might rather have Ginobili. T-Mac is a superior talent to Ginobili, but his lack of consistency on both ends of the court is what keeps him out in my book (although a lot of that may have to do with his injuries and inability to get in a rhythm for an entire season)

Seeing that the Texas team would have players that can dominate games such as Duncan, Dirk, TMac. I only see Kobe as true dominator in Cali team. Texas would most likely.

07-29-2008, 01:41 PM
That Duncan/Yao/Dirk front line is simply devastating. You also have Battier, who defends Kobe better than any player in the league. Those two thing would be just too much for the Cali team to overcome.

The concept is intriguing.
However, looking at the prospective rosters, I am not as enamored with the 2 teams as I thought I would be. The Kings are no longer the talent pool it was during the Adleman era. The Lakers are a bit less defensive than they were during their championship years this decade. The Spurs look like they could hold their own (not win, but at least be competitive) even if the Texas team wasn't condensed, based on size alone. The Clippers lost Brand, and while Kaman is capable, he is no superstar. We don't yet know what Bynum is, but as of now, Dirk/Duncan is better than anything the Cali team can throw at 'em...

All division teams... an interesting idea. This is a lot of fun.
