Or just duke it out! I bet the Red Rocket has some pent up rage from all the bashing he receives on this site.

no good reason why we have bonner. absolutely a mystery to me.

Luke Walton may be overpaid (length of contract), but to say he is trash is just silly. He has played a nice role for your team, whereas Bonner has been buried on the bench. I would take Luke all day as a 8-10 man.

Bobby jackson, a draft pick, and a late round draft pick.

Theres nothing really available trade wise, that you could get for Bonner, that fills a need.

You are talking about contract year Walton, he was totally different last year.

Maybe not by himself, but in a package deal we could get a serviceable person. It is not like Bonner is a complete flop. He can play. He might have a very limited role on a team, but he can play. When he got minutes, he did ok.

So what, he had a sub-par year. Could it have been because all of the stress from the off-season bullshit effected him? He looked like a player that needed to be re-energized. I bet a trade would do him wonders. He fits in perfect with the triangle offense and he works hard.

There is no one on top of Bonner in a package, the Spurs will want to give up, that will bring in the calibar of players, you guys want.

The Rockets deal is better than that. I think they are in rebuilding mode so they do not need those pieces. If they thought they could contend, than ya, because Fin and Udoka would help, but not now. I think they like the Odom type player but they did not want that contract if they were going to be rebuilding. Greene could be an Odom type player if he reaches that potential, but he is on a rookie scale contract so he would be much cheaper.

Very good trade for Phoenix (although Phoenix would lose a key ball handler that can spell Nash and that is something they desperately need), good trade for the Spurs (get the defensive, athletic 3 they need and a rotational big and gave up nothing really), terrible for the Raptors (raped).

I propose this midseason trade.

Golden State receives:
Matt Bonner
Ime Udoka
Jacque Vaughn
Anthony Tolliver (or James Gist)
Their own 2008 2nd round pick (currently owned by Spurs)

San Antonio receives:
Stephen Jackson

Check the salaries (on realgm) - it works.
By midseason, Golden State will be at the bottom of the standings, ready to cut salary and make a run at the lottery. Stephen Jackson will most likely be seen as not helping the chemistry of the young team.
Spurs step in, offer up some expiring contracts and a pick, and voila, you've got a trade.
BTW, Jackson's contract is up the summer of '10 - the Spurs get the ballsy scorer they've been missing for quite some time now along with the contract they want.

Streakyshooter08
08-05-2008, 05:36 AM
I am all for trading him but I doubt anyone wants him. I only see 2 scenarios where he gets traded:

1. Spurs take on a bad contract
2. Spurs package him with a better player and/or draft picks

Option 2 is more likely but the Spurs won't trade Bowen, Manu, TP, TD, Thomas, Mason (unless it is a no brainer)

That leaves Vaughn, Mahinmi, Oberto, Hill and Udoka. It will be really tough to find a package that intrigues other teams and makes the Spurs better. One can only hope...

Tolliver's already signed for insurance.

I would be happy if we could get a box of chicken wings for him. Best bet is GS or Tor but Mem can take him without sending anything in return, maybe see what it would cost us to let them have him.

that could be one way how the warriors go this season, another is
that Monta Ellis goes ape shit and unlocks his true potential, cory maggette becomes a top-league player, the and warriors upset another team once again.

im guessing pop and his great ability to find bigs who he can develop, only to put them into his dog house. a trend pop and his bigs always find themselves in. pop can kill anyones confidence whos just a role player. he does it every season. since david left, pop has had 4 starters, the rest of the players are just pops toys to tinker with. only reason fab is still here is because the FO failed to bring in scolla. and now we're stuck with him. just like we're stuck with jacque, bonner, kurt and finley. by far imo the worst bench we've had in yrs. good thing they were at least able to grab roger. between roger and udoka our season should be manageable. come PO time imo it all rides on..........will ian show up this season?
