I didn't know this site was tied to any particular nation... Hell, I bet there are more Argentinian Spurs fans than Americans, since most American fans don't appreciate team ball, and would rather have 4 quarters of dunks and crossovers.

I'll admit that I wish Tim and Fab would dunk more when theyr'e OBVIOUSLY open enough to do so, but it's all good.

I wasn't overlooking anything, I was responding to a specific post. There has been stupid things said all over this thread by people from many different countries. I don't deny it and I don't support it. I never said, as you are implying, that I support or agree with everything that an American poster has said. If you have been around here for any length of time, you will know that when someone has tried to paint a fanbase as being of one mindset, I am usually one of the first to jump in and speak against that. That is what happened here and that is what I did.

If the US wins games by 20 or less

You don't have to be a "US Hater" to think like that, since some americans are already acting as if the US team is unbeatable.

Argentina plays (played?) some of the most beautiful team basketball I've ever seen in my life. The way they cut and moved the ball was amazing to watch. They play a style unlike anything I have seen before. Plus, they have my second favorite player in the league (and #1 ain't playing). It's stupid to root for a team only because they are from your home country, especially if their main player is a guy who is a horrible representative for your nation.

I was referring to the loyalty to the Spurs...not Team USA which is why I said..."you don't like Team USA...that is your call and totally up to you and I respect your loyalty to your country" obviously I assumed you were from Argentina which was my mistake so my bad there. The words in Spanish were meant to emphasize a point, Manu is from Bahia Blanca so it is possible he could retire to a little ranch there. I was using the Spanish in a purely descriptive way...not sure how you figure they were racist but they weren't meant that way. I am not sure how just by typing those words, I am assuming anyone who knows Spanish doesn't know what they mean, in fact I am pretty sure that if a person speaks Spanish they are the first to know what that means.

Again, and this is what is missed....I am not saying that American fans making fun of other countries or their fans is ok...if you can show me where I said that, please do. If I were to say that, then yes, that would be hypocritical. My point is that there are quite a few Argentine (and American fans for that matter) who are currently Spurs fans who will not be so after Manu retires. remove awards, representing your country, etc... then it would be all about what you want

but then, who would care? only hardcore fans of that sport and athletes who want to prove themselves
this is going to sound corny The point of the olympics is not a 'this country is better than this country' contest or an excuse for 'your counrtry sucks' war. The point is to embrace friendly competition with other humans from other countries and to have respect for each other as same members in a species and set aside the differences to repsect the similarities. I dont' really give a care who wins what, the reason I watch the olympics is because it makes me feel unified with the world seeing all the different countries participating. yeah i know it sounds corny. Cheering for your country and national pride is fine and dandy, but I have barely seen any of that, I've seen the exact opposite; also IMO cheering for your country should include cheering for your own country and that's it there is no reason to bring in another nation to boost your own country. Also I don't care if the US wins one single medal or any other nation for that matter. However, as far as basketball when I watch basketball I watch it as a basketball fan, not a fan of a particular nation so I root for players I enjoy watching and teams that I like to watch play.

I can see how that is a true statement. The continent of Europe, if you are speaking of continental Europe, doesn't account for all of the European continent. The British Isles have to be added to continental Europe to come to the entire European continent.
