huh? the FO suggested that Gist go to Europe. it's a draft and stash of an american players. they're continuing to mull through the options that are left. i envision either a trade or a signing happening soon.

Just keep it rational, that's all. Gist wasn't exactly putting us over the top.

Spurs should still be a top 3-4 team in the Western Conference. That is not sucking.

Being Memphis, Minnesota, or the Knicks is sucking.

08-07-2008, 12:17 PM
ive never seen such nonsense as i have this off season on this board. we are all holding our breath and counting on the FO to handout contracts to our rookies and if they dont we see that as a FO failure? are you kidding me? all our hope to get back to the finals is on the shoulders of hill, gist, and hairston(and mahinmi)? are you fucking kidding me?

come on now people. when's the last time we signed and relied on a rookie? last time i checked it was back when parker was signed, maybe even ginobili and back then both were professionals overseas and not fresh out of college.

if we're really relying on our FO to handout contracts to our rookies then we might as well unload the rest of our team, bring in nothing but d-leaguers, and rename our franchise to the San Antonio Heat because we ain't going nowhere having half our bench straight out of college.

Oh this is cute. A Lakers and a Suns getting past there differences to bag on the Spurs. They are connected by the common bond of Shaq, except one team SUCKS huge when Shaq leaves and the other discovers how to SUCK on a whole new level once Shaq enters. Oh wait, that's another bond...Sucking. Just like these two losers sucking each other's...

As far as the Spurs go, we underestimate this team enormously every year and half the time (odd years) they up and what? Kick ass and win a championship. Sit back buddy, we still have months for retooling. Enjoy having a championship winning team unlike some other places...

If you are going to cry and whine about a team that hasn’t even taken the court yet then you might as well be a Suns or Lakers fan. Being a fan of one of those teams allows that. They are the ones that only have fans that come out when the team is winning but nowhere to be found when they have had a couple of bad years. Just like around town, you only see the Kobe or Snaq jerseys when those teams are doing well on the years they aren’t those same idiot losers are wearing Spurs stuff.

When the Spurs lose 30 games, you guys will all be sorry.

No we won't, because that would mean the Spurs won 52 games which is pretty amazing.

Since 50 games was the cutoff to get in last year I say that put the Spurs as a shoe-in for the playoffs around the 4-8 spot range.

DPG21920
08-07-2008, 04:27 PM
I will take 50+ wins for the rest of my life. If the Spurs could manage that, they would be the best franchise in the history of the league. People just take for granted that the Spurs win 50+ so often. That is not normal in this league.

Amuseddaysleeper
08-07-2008, 04:27 PM
Just making the playoffs isn't enough. This team was structured to win another trophy. Getting bounced in round 1 or 2 for the next few years isn't going to help that.

I'm dreading the 2010 offseason with the way Pop and RC are running the show this summer.

DPG21920

Were you dreading it when they were winning titles? The goal is to win a championship, but name another team in any major sport at the top level where the same team wins every year? If you management is putting your team in contention to win every year that is all you can ask for.

Sounds about right. Spurs will end up around the 4th or 5th seed and out in the 1'st or 2nd round depending on matchups as the team stands now.

The team is pretty well set and I don't see the spurs adding any impact players that will be big difference makers. The spurs still may trade Bonner and Vaughn but they won't get much back for those guys.

good points but duncan is our dominant C/PF. Thomas does a great job of defending the paint and passing the ball. we dont need a C now. i think Oberto and Thomas and Mahimni will compliment Duncan well.

Thomas is ok, but as a backup, he's only 6'9, people tend to forget, he's going to have to guard BYNUM. Oberto is way too weak and does not box out, he needs to be shipped out ASAP. Duncan is phenomenal, we all know that, but, SIZE MATTERS. That's why i suggested trading for Curry earlier, yeah he's not the greatest player in the world, but he's a legitamite 6'11/7 footer than takes up size and will hit you.

Curry, hell no! He is the softest, poorest rebounding big in the league. He plays no D, cant run the floor and cant block a shot to save his life! Oh did I mention he has the same heart problem Reggie Lewis had?

Would be nice to get rid of Berto and bring in a 7ftr with some skills like Harrison who is only 25 said he would sign for the min and can score rebound a play D.

DAMN< ITS TRUE. I just realize it, we got extremely high expectation. Sometimes we didnt grateful on how wonderful our position really is. :toast :flag:

Ohhhhh, the Clippers!

You can even laugh, but I dunno if u're well informed of their movement this year. For the first time in my life, Im surprised how agressive they are this offseason. Its so unlike them, being sucks all their life. They got Baron Davis,Marcus Camby and 7th pick Gordon. I watch college ball, and that kid absolutely knows how to score right away!!! Al is a solid rookie and his stats keep gettin better every year. On the bench, they add Jason Williams and Ricky Davis. Having Mobley and Kaman also didnt hurt. I wish Spurs FO as agressive as Clippers but I guess RC got his own calculation. I just hope his calculation is right, otherwise its gonna cost us a championship. But we still a contender and Western Powerhouse.

Since this thread was posted, I have been wondering what we have to do to "get ready."

Whether the Spurs finish in last place, get knocked out in the first round, or win a championship, I think my "game preparation" is about the same. How about you guys?

Mine is the same too Kori. No matter how important I think my superstitions are it seems the reality is that I have no impact on how the Spurs do. :lol

I also calling all Spurs fans and people who got inside contacts, to forced FO to send all of our rookies (Hill,Mahinmi,Tolliver) to be assigned special sessions with Coach Chip during this summer to improve shooting..I think somehow team and player can reach agreement where it is absolutely necessary to treat offseason as time to imrpove shooting skills. I think that has been the problem for us in Playoffs; once our Big 3 got tired or slowed by injuries..bench got no game at all. Just in case its already happening, just to remind Chip to tell guys to add 500 more shots per day L.O.L

have some faith..

we made the conference finals last year, despite our 2nd best player(arguable with TP) being injured during the entire playoffs..he played absolutely terrible during the Lakers series, yet we were close for all of it except 1 game..we arguably should have won one of the games if it wasn't for a questionable call too..

we got Roger Mason, who helps us tremendously on offense, something we struggled with last year..Pargo would be a huge help offensively as well..

unlike other seasons, we actually have 2 potential players this season..Mahinmi and Hill..whether or not they disappoint is yet to be seen, but we actually have YOUNG players that have nice upside..Mahinmi would fill in a big need..

We came pretty damn close last year with a team that was beat up by the time the WCF came around. With Manu limping around. With broken down airplanes and that jerk Joey Crawford--and we were still in it with an old bench.

People need to get a grip. So long as we have the big three healthy, the other parts are pretty much interchangeable. We have won championships with different supporting casts all the time.

Going to need Roger Mason to step up and knock down those shots--with the big three healthy we have a solid chance this coming year.

Nice attitude, thread-starter. Do you want some :whine?

why does anybody bother with a Suns fan? they are the most pathetic franchise in the NBA, always disappointing..their fanbase is even worse, finding an excuse for every loss..

their fans have to entertain themselves by trying to insult a team that always owns them, because they don't have anything positive to talk about when it comes to their own team..the Suns LOL..what a joke..it's gonna be even funnier with a Stoudemire-led future..probably the biggest idiot in the NBA..

pretty close to what ? losing in the 2nd round ? we got stomped in the WCF. people still think we lost because "Manu was hurting" ???? WE LOST IN 5 GAMES. some of you homers need to recognize we aren't that good. not only that, but we have not gotten any better this offseason, while all our main foes have. (except dallas...LOL)

i dont think we have a chance in hell of coming out of the west this year, and even if we did, we couldnt beat a team like boston anyway.

regardless if healthy toward the Playoffs, we need a big man to help rebound.. We all saw this past season how we stunk the place up by not rebounding and giving teams 2nd chance points.:bang

We need a big man 7 ftr to help TD in the paint. Thomas helps on D but he is small and I'm not even going to mention anything about FO:bang

pulling a timmy eh, a stare to the wall?
:p

Guys, its not all doom and gloom. shit, anything can turn the tides. look at 2007, a lot of people said it wasnt our year, but a good play by our vet Big Shot Rob gave us an easy road to the champion.

Anything can happen..Dallas went down despite everyone saying it was their year.

Kobe aint getting younger, hitting the 30 mark..LA will be slowed down, plus they lost Ronny..plus Bynum will be back, but this can also work to our advantage, which can disrupt the chemistry with the team since's been out so long.

An injury can happen with the hornets or rockets (bound to happen to yao or t-mac probably)...AND FINALLY, we got youth! we got youngins!

And even if we do suck, so what...we can finally get a decent pick from the draft.
