Game 4 Jazz vs. Iran
Iran big man Hamed Ehadadi had another big game in the Revue. He went 4-for-5 from the field and finished with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

Against the Mavs
He had 19 points, 16 rebounds (5 offensive rebounds) and 2 blocks.

Apparently, the guy is undrafted in 2004. In otherwords, the guy is a Free Agent!

Scola & Nocioni being way shorter owned him in the friendly match against ARG...

Ehadadi had 20 points and 9 rebounds.

Wasn't exactly a blowout, tied 24-24 in the first quarter, with Argentina winning by 10.

Well, anyway, it appears the Grizzlies are interested in this player.

You started this thread just because of the article saying the Grizzlies want to sign him. :lol

that's one reason...

the other reason is that we are in desperate need of a true center who can block shots and rebound.

If Duncan can be matched with a serviceable big man, then we are golden.

You don't win championships without a legitimate big man. There has only been one team in the last 11 years without a true big man in the post to win the championship. The Detroit Pistons.

He's still a little raw but has talent. He owned Lithuania in the first quarter. Blocked three shots and had some nice scores in the paint. His conditioning is a problem. I didn't see him sustain this energetic play the entire game. At the NBA level, I think this guy could play about 10-15 minutes a game and exert the presence of a Mutombo. NBA conditioning coaches can help this guy.

I wouldn't be too surprised if the Spurs are interested. The Spurs heavily scout international competitions so they might see something they like. Don't think he'll be much of a player but it'd be nice to have at least one seven-footer on the team.

Because it's a federal law for any person (or business - NBA team) to do any business with Iranian nationals. The League has applied for a special license from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control. But until it's granted, no one can talk to him/sign him.

Iran's Hamed Hadadi claims that he will become a member of the Memphis Grizzles by the end of the week, despite a statement by the NBA that teams may not negotiate with the center, according to Payvand.

"I will undoubtedly join Memphis Grizzlies by the end of next week. I met Memphis' officials yesterday to discuss joining the team," Hadadi said.

"I received many offers from European teams but just playing in the NBA is my dream," he added. "Hopefully, I can join Memphis as soon as possible without any problem."

However, the NBA's legal counsel has maintained that teams are not allowed to discuss business with Iranian nationals.

"It has come to our attention that representatives of Hamed Hadadi, an Iranian basketball player, may be contacting NBA teams to discuss the possibility of signing Mr. Hadadi to an NBA player contract. We have been advised that a federal statute prohibits a person or organization in the United States from engaging in business dealings with Iranian nationals," the counsel said.

apparently teams can now negotiate with him:

BEIJING – After receiving U.S. government approval, Iranian center Hamed Ehadadi has been cleared to sign with NBA teams, Yahoo! Sports has learned.

The NBA sent out an email to executives late Wednesday afternoon informing its 30 teams they were free to enter into negotiations with the 7-foot-2 Iranian Olympian, as well as one of his teammates on Iran’s national team: guard Mohammadsamad Nik Khahbahrami.

Just five days ago, the NBA had informed its general managers that they were forbidden to enter into negotiations with Ehadadi, pending a license from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control. The license was granted and Ehadadi, 23, who averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds for winless Iran in Beijing, is a free agent.

On Friday, the NBA had told its teams, “We have been advised that a federal statue prohibits a person or organization in the United States from engaging in business dealings with Iranian nationals.”

Even with the clearance, the NBA ordered its teams Wednesday to contact the league office before signing either player to a contract because the OFAC license still “restricts the manner in which any financial payments can be made.” Teams also were urged to keep all documents related to any negotiations.

Several league executives believe the Memphis Grizzlies are the most likely to sign Ehadadi, who wasn’t chosen in the 2004 NBA Draft.

Commissioner David Stern invited the Iranian national team to compete in July’s NBA summer league in Utah, allowing the team a pre-Olympics tune-up. When NBA teams started to show an interest in signing Ehadadi, Stern had league counsel begin the process of clearing a path through this complicated circumstance with the U.S. State Department.

After his most impressive game of these Olympics – 21 points and 16 rebounds in a 97-82 loss to Argentina – Ehadadi, a center, said through an assistant coach, Mehran Hatami, “It is my dream to play in the NBA.”
