I need a place to throw my random Olympic thoughts for discussion.

First off, NBC delaying the 100m showing half a fucking day is pure bullshit. Bolt was awesome and I can't believe we couldn't see it live. It was flat out amazing and they made us wait. Its probably the best event for all of track and field.

Screw you, NBC.

His first name sounds far too much like Hussien. Homeland security had to make sure he wasn't a track and field terrorist before they aired the race.

Well he def cost him self a chance at that if not lower with his last 20m celebration. 200m should be fucking awesome.

Yeah, Bolt was sick. 9.69 without giving a full effort? WTF?

The dude could have ran into the 9.5's if he didnt fuck around. That whole "look at me while I pump my chest and high step across the finish line" was pretty self absorbing of him.

dont get me wrong, that is one fast mofo, but I cant take an athlete in the olympics seriously when he does stupid shit like that. At least wait until the race is completely over. I guarantee, sometime in the future, he is going to look back on that moment and realize what a fucking dumbass he was for doing that.

Its akin to Phelps switching to a backstroke when he is ahead by a body length in the freestyle.

Jamaicans are crazy for track like nowhere else in the world. I happened to be there in 2000 while their Olympic tryouts were going on and it was unbelievable how they dominated the news. That, and their hate for Marion Jones.

I think the exact opposite, if you are THAT far ahead, go ahead and celebrate. It is a remarkable achievement for you and your country, enjoy the moment, you earned it.

That is a shame.

In Argentina they were showing the soccer NT play in the quarter finals against Holland and they jumped for about a minute, in the middle of the game, to show the 100 mts finals.

Bolt is truly sick.

There is shit they can show live dude. They've just choosen not to show things adn tape delay them. But yeah, you're brilliant pointing out time zones. NBC must have warped space time to show every swimming event live that they did.

It sort of sucks that they do not cover other sports as much. I'd like to see some weight lifting, TKD, Judo, and maybe some wrestling, instead of Rowing or Equestiran(sp), I mean come on.

Other than that I'll catch some Gymnastics if it is still available to watch. Badminton and Tennis, as well as Track & Field whenever I can catch those.

Phelps. They knew it was coming. You think that schedule was an accident?

NBC is going to show things that they think will draw US viewers, whether it's live or tape delayed. That means heavy doses of swimming, short distance (< 1500M ) track events, women's gymnastics, and men's b-ball. If you're a fan of trap shooting or equestrian, other sources of televised events have been given. NBC paid major bucks and wants to get their money back, which means luring viewers, by whatever means.

Dude is 21, has only been running the 100m since March, and I reckon he'll break 9.5 before he's finished. He hasn't run more than 80m yet! I've never seen anyone run that fast so easily... baby, he was Born to Run! :lol

As for other amazing athletes, how about that Russian pole vaulter Isinbaev - 24 world records! Nailed the 5.05m last night with ease. She isn't finished either.

What's the story with that man in the stands getting upset with a female athlete recently? I figure it was a coach or father, but I thought I remembered hearing she won a silver and he was pissed and chewing her out.

It's crazy that China has almost 20 more gold Medals than the US.

2004 medal count - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_Summer_Olympics_medal_count

2000 medal count - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000_Summer_Olympics_medal_count

1996 medal count - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1996_Summer_Olympics_medal_count

I guess that shows the importance of home cooking?

Man watching LoLo Jones tonight was pretty heart breaking. She was destroying the field until she hit the 9th hurdle. You could tell she held her composure as best she could through the interview and then when she was in the tunnel of course they show her on TV while she's obviously crying. They should have let her have a moment alone there, not put her on national TV.

I agree, it was hard to watch. She did do well in the interview, they really should have left her alone. I guess it's the agony of defeat angle for the ratings.

Uh, he's only been running the 100M since March, has already broken the WR twice, and the former sprinter announcer said he could have gone 9.59 if he didn't break form in the last 20M. In addition, he's a lousy starter out of the blocks right now. I'd say he's probably got a 50/50 chance to be the first man to 9.5.

Cuban taekwondo athlete kicks ref. (http://www.nbcolympics.com/taekwondo/news/newsid=251304.html)
