Because of this travesty, 10 heterosexual married couples will spontaneously divorce.

Why is this in the politics section?

Because Republicans insist it is a political issue.

Oh? What Republican politicians of notoriety have made a stink about Ellen and the hot chick tying the knot?

And list a bunch of them as you've made it sound as if it's already reached epidemic proportions.

Two women getting married. I call it a waste. But what do I know. I am old fashion and don't care to understand why they would want to be married to each other. And really could care less. I guess they are trying to prove some kind of point.

that they love each other and want to be as miserable as the rest of us married folks.

Or, I don't know, express their love for each other in a solemn ceremony observed by their family and friends. Maybe they want to gain the legal status two people get when they are married.

Hey suits me, let them be miserable. More work for the lawyers. If they do like most of the celebs they will split in a few years/months/days...:lol

I was referring to gay marriage generally, not Ellen and Portia specifically. Are you going to feign ignorance about all the petitions led by Republicans to ban gay marriage these past two elections?

Not to mention the D.O.M.A. passed by the GOP congress. One of the more useless pieces of legislation passed in the past 10-20 years, IMHO.

Your referral was well hidden, but okay, whatever.

I am acutely aware of where the republicans stand on this moral issue.

I still think it's funny that this is an issue. Who cares what people do with their lives?

Well, marriage should have never been regulated by the government. My understanding is it started as a racial tool to limit interracial marriages. It is an affront of freedoms for the government to involve itself into an established religious ceremony. Doesn't that defy the first amendment?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

There should be no financial incentive for government to recognize marriage. Anything regarding marriage should be by the free market, and the churches.

Although, admittedly, they had the pictures taken and splashed all over the news mediums, in part, with the knowledge that it condones and perpetuates aberrant behavior and a dysfunctional lifestyle. So yeah, I guess it's no longer a Privacy issue when they take it to the Public

And furthermore, someone needs to speak out and clearly delineate between right and wrong, and more power to the GOP for doing so!
It's a free Country and people can do what they want, but by God, they won't be encouraging and condoning a God-forsaken lifestyle without repudiation and being taken to task for doing so, not on my watch they won't!

Wow, strong words from Manny! :tu

Good for them.

I'm conservative...

(In my best Glenn Beck imititation) "T Park, what does that even mean"?

Does it mean that you're a dyed-in-the-wool-republican, a moralist, anti-liberal, what?

I'm seriously interested in how you define the label of conservative that you put on yourself.

I should say fiscal conservative, low taxes, more benefits and more incentives for businesses.
Conservative in foreign policy.
Conservative in less government, more states rights, more free enterprise.

Im liberal on some issues, or "considered" liberal, with gay marriage.

I believe if your a consistent conservative in domestic issues such as less government involvement in life, then gay marriage, and allowing people to, if they are not infringing on the rights of others, to do as they please.

I like Glenn Beck, but I can't stand his misguided views on immigration and what not.

I also don't listen to him much anymore, hes gone from funny, informative but a real fun show, to takes himself wayyyy too serious and is a constant worry wart.

I'm sorry.
Confession is good for the soul.

you turned my post into something the Taliban would have said.
If you can show me where my position on this moral issue is inconsistent with that of Bible, then I'm open to change, if not, your weak slam is primarily aimed at God and Jesus Christ, then at me for wanting to follow their teachings.
I'm comfortable being under their umbrella.

Its good to know where you stand, however
I've made it perfectly clear where I stand on moral issues, so don't pretend as if it were some sort of revelation to you.

So you don't get confused, other than coming back with some more weak smack, your response would be to show me where my position does not parallel that found in Scripture.

Followers and adherents of His teaching understand that sin is a device used to entrap God's creation in order to keep them from His presence in the afterworld. Our commission is to pass along, as best we can, the redemptive message given to us through Jesus Christ, a message that frees man from the captivity of sin.
Christ is full of compassionate for those bound and entrapped by sin. There is neither mockery nor condoning of sin. Neither amusement nor condemnation (we are condemned by freely choosing to reject His plan for our salvation).

Those presently unfamiliar with His teachings will find it difficult if not impossible to relate to His message.

"Come now, let us reason together, says The Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool." (Isaiah 1:18 RSV)
