View Full Version : What is Tim thinking right now?

Is Tim as pessimistic about next year as most of the posters are? He was a beast vs the Hornets and Lakers. Will Tim let Holt and Pop know he is not willing to around in mediocrity until the 'magical' free agent year of 2010? He has 4 prime years remaining as a dominant player. Why let his talents be wasted---- if this ownership group is not willing to open up their wallets to win this year and next? I know Tim is signed until 2012. However, a discontented Tim Duncan would be a nightmare to the value/image of this franchise.

Tim is wondering what is on the mind of the members of Spurs Talk right now....that, and the fact that he could really go for a club sandwich right about now.

Timmy is worried about hitting level 20 on Halo 3 right now. Afterwards, he will download the new Jets Brett Favre cover for his Madden 09.

Uh, how many legends got to play with two other All Stars for the meat of their career years? Not fucking many.

There are probably 5 or 6 other first thru third team All NBA players that would die to be in Tim's shoes. Spurs fan is uber spoiled and expects Pop/RC to pull a fourth All Star out of their asses for minimum salary.

Don't the Spurs have cap space for 2010 if this year goes bad?? I thought that was one of the reasons Duncan took less on his new contract. Spurs will have a shot to win one more before Timmy retires.

1) Spurs fan bitches because Spurs are above the cap and limited to exceptions to sign players this year.

2) Spurs arrange huge cap room in 2010 to sign players.

3) Spurs fan bitches that nothing will happen then.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Tim is wondering how come the 2004 US olympic Team was not as awesome as the 2008 team.

Duncan is probably doing one of two things:

-Laying on the beach in St. Croix while eating fish and fungi -- and oblivious to the world around him.

-Practicing defensive slides in the practice facility while listening to his iPod -- and oblivious to the world around him.

Duncan tried to help the Spurs get Maggette but after that fell through, I'm guessing he left it up to the Spurs to put together the best offseason possible.

Considering how the European teams have been throwing money around lately, the Spurs will be probably have just enough cap room to lure some scrub like Adam Morrison or Cuttino Mobley.

That year i expect Spurs throw maximum contract for Bosh or Wade. Otherwise FO can suck cock and being fags forever!!! I think Lebron will stay in Cavs coz its his team, his team is strong in weak East and Cavs are aggresive in signing backups to please him,not to mention they will throw max deals for him as well. I see D Wade chance is better coz right now Miami sucks real bad...and he likes championship and money so go figure. I still see Bosh is the most important player in 2010 agency because he can be a solid foundation along Duncan, and we already got Parker as a dream PG. Manu also still got couple of good years left as well....

I would only add enjoying his family.

Duncan is usually back in the gym before this point in the summer. But I wouldn't think he's panicked about anything. It's not his style. He's not the GM, at least not officially. He'll let the FO do their job, he'll do his. He'll bring it to the court when the season tips, then he'll kick it up in the Playoffs. I can't ask for more from him.

I think Tim missed a chance in 2008 playoffs to elevate himself past Shraq and a few others careerwise and begin to push into Jordan territory.

MJ and Phil J allegedly were joined at the hip when it came to strategy. Not that they would always agree, but they would duke it out and come to a unified decision that translated into championships. I fear Duncan instead submits to Pop and it costs. Ie being up 20 in Game 1 vs the Flamers and pulling Bowen off Kobme etc. Manu obviously not being right and yet Lord Pop waiting until Gm 4 to turn Barrdog loose. I love Manus play as much as any on the board but this idea that a 60-70% Manu is better then a 95-100%Barrdog was and is bogus Manu worship. Game costing bogus.

He probably thinks the Spurs are fine. Which realistically, they will be a good team. I'm just not sure if they will be championship-esque this season. But I didn't htink they were championship-esque last season and they made it to the WCF...

The franchise has definitely lost a step, and I'm pretty sure Duncan is well aware of that. Probably thinking that we could have stayed with LA had we signed Scola, other than that FO has tried but failed in its pursuits. He seems like a bite the bullet kinda of guy, who understands things aren't always going to go your way all the time, and so he's just dealing with it the best he can. He's going to do his part regardless.

Tim has lead the Spurs to titles with some of the weakest over all rosters for any champions. All-Star is bull shi*. You should look at all NBA team, that is more important in my book. People forget that Manu and Tony were not always playing at an all NBA level. They were good, but they have both grown drastically.

He has 4 prime years remaining as a dominant player.

You think Tim has only 4 years left? :wow He has way more than 4 years in him because he has never relied on athleticism as part of his game to dominate his opponent. Tim is an intelligent basketball player and knows how to use his body to the fullest potential. Not to mention, his role might change to the latter part of his career similar to what happened to Robinson when Tim came in. His solid fundamental game coupled with decreased minutes will keep him at a near All-Star level if not All-Star for more than 4 seasons to come.:toast

Duncan's been a gamer forever.
These are from March '07, with adidas/Xbox contest winners . It took place in the Spurs locker room.

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x282/duncan228/promo/3-19-072.jpg

On Monday, March 19, San Antonio Spurs forward and NBA great Tim Duncan took to the virtual hardwood to test his Xbox 360™ gaming skills at the eighth adidas/Xbox® Game On Session. Nine local winners were chosen to step inside the Spurs locker room at the AT&T Center and sit alongside Duncan to see who would come out on top in EA SPORTS NBA LIVE 07. After Duncan warmed up his skills with the nine local winners, he loaded his Xbox LIVE gamertag, TDuncanGameON, and went head-to-head with two of the adidas VIP Finals Experience winners.

Duncan started out with a loss against a nine-year-old gamer who picked the Spurs' rival, the Dallas Mavericks. After the contest Duncan had this to say about his performance: "I let her win … well actually, my controller wasn't working, and I think the batteries were dead, that is why she won."

After the loss Duncan reeled off three wins in a row before dropping his second contest of the night. Overall, Duncan went 5-4 against the local winners before going head-to-head against Doug, 17, from Ontario, Canada and Jason, 31, from Greenville, Tennessee.

In his first Xbox LIVE match-up, Duncan's Spurs finished in a tie with Doug's Phoenix Suns, 16-16. In the last game of the night Duncan faced a hardcore gamer in Jason, who chose the Miami Heat, and who ran Duncan off the court, 26-14.

After the event Duncan took the time to sign autographs and pose for photos with the winners in attendance. The Game On session was also attended by regional broadcast stations, FOX Sports Net, and local San Antonio affiliates KENS (CBS), KAAB (FOX), KSAT (ABC), and WOAI (NBC). Additionally, San Antonio Express News reporter Dave Davies was there to document the activities as part of his weekly gaming column and Duncan conducted a phone interview with ESPN.com.
