the commentary from bottom up

# Time out for ARG as the game remains back and forth and back and forth
# now Gutierrez hits a 3 giving them 7 threes (21 of their 39 points are from 3!)
# Ginobili hasn't been quiet, with 4 three pointers so far.
# Bourosis is at the line for 2FTA. Diamantidis is having a quiet game for GRE. The "greek scottie pippen" is a big reason for GRE success
# looks like a double tech has been called. Prigioni and Spanoulis have been jawing with each other.
# Nocioni out and looks like he is going into the locker room early. He came back strong but obviously is bothered by something.
# Scola scores. Scola has been very consistent throughout this tournament.
# Tsartsaris has now scored 11 in one half! That is a bonus for GRE
# great feed after a shot fake for an easy bucket for ARG
# Timeout again as this remains a back and forth game. 31-30 right now for ARG.
# Oh great ball movement by ARG to get some great looks against this "zoned up" defense by GRE
# Spanoulis comes back and draws the foul. Spanoulis will get you buckets or FTA whenever you really need one.
# Nocioni hits another one ( a 3 this time) after a great extra pass for ARG
# Nocioni back in the game and hits a tough turnaround...good sign for ARG
# a couple sloppy possessions in a row for both teams...GRE scores as Fotsis finishes after a turnover.
# Papalouksas hits a tough floater in traffic.
# Delfino hits a tough shot for ARG as they go up 26-23
# Prigioni handles the whole possession and scores. He is the one real unknown for ARG, replacing Pepe Sanchez who starred for ARG so long including the Gold Medal team from Athens.
# ARG is without Nocioni who is checking out a "tweaked knee"...ARG can't have Nocioni out nor Ginobili in foul trouble

commentary from the web feed
bottom up

# Baby Shaq barely gets his f.t to the basket. His conditioning is a huge issue for GRE.
# ARG continues to have a huge edge from 3 with 10 3 pointers compared to just 3 of them for GRE
# GRE misses a great look at 3 at the buzzer and the score is 56-55 after 3Q. There has been 15 lead changes so far and all signs point to this thing going down to the final moments.
# GRE scores in transition as Vasilopoulus scores. Even though the game remains close, there has been some equally sloppy turnovers for both teams.
# Gonzales is in for ARG, he is the only real "beef" answer for Baby Shaq
# Baby Shaq ran over Scola last time down setting a pick.
# ARG with another 3...GRE has to push out on them.
# Ginobili with a 3...GRe has to know that he will shoot it and they must put a hand up
# ...and he scores right away down low....he can score but his weight is such an issue he can only play in short short bursts
# Babty Shag is in for GRE
# Spanoulis has 3 turnovers in a row.
# GRE misses as the have played a little sloppy lately...they now are going to a 3 guard lineup that they have used famously in world competition the last couple of years.
# Prigioni hits a 3 as the only real unknown player/non NBA player for ARG is having a nice stretch of play right now
# ..and then turned right back over again to ARG
# another sloppy turnover but turned right back over.
# ARG converts off of a steal as ARG scores 4 in a row to go up 1.
# Ginobili with a classic Manu drive
# another foul on the floor for ARg as foul trouble could cause big problems for ARG
# lazy t.o. for GRE.
# GRE converts after a turno

I don't know what to say right now.

Unbelievable game.

These months of rooting against Argentina, and hoping they lose, well.. I was on my feet in front of the TV going nuts..

Manu Ginobili is just amazing. He is the world's best all around player. Better than LBJ, Kobe, and anyone on the USA squad considering these international rules.

How about that clutch 3 in the last few minutes?

That sensational block...

Then that crazy ass flip layup.....

I'm a changed person. All this Parker vs Manu stuff is bunk now.

I root for USA to stomp him and Argentina. But Manu simply just cannot be stopped. He is unbelievable. And I am going to grab some of his rookie cards now, because they are going to sky rocket once he retires and is inducted into the Hall.

Ginobili is the best player in the world.

he just said in his post game interview that "it probably wasn't the best shot but he tried to put a lot of arc on it to take some more time off the clock and he knew Oberto would be in the lane to try and get the rebound"

Manu will take some hits for that 3 with 10 seconds to go. But you can't pass up an open shot even if it's a 3. Plus the shot clock was 2 seconds till a turnover.

V-Span showed who he was jacking a 3 going for the win. He tried to be superman and totally failed himself, his team, coaches, and entire Greece. The selfishness of that passing up an opportunity to get a 2 pointer and send it to OT was disgraceful. He could have drove and drawn the foul at least and sent it to OT with free throws.

Just pathetic.

Ginobili is the best player in the world.

they just showed the doctors working on Nocioni's leg/knee that is not a good sign, if they want any chance against Greece and USA he needs to be healthy

Ginobili with the monster block!

Delfino on fire! 18 point in a row him alone

Manu with the dagger!
ARG up 5

Jesus! I can't believe that 3 went in

Manu missed a 3 with 10 seconds left, then Spanoulis took the rebound and ball hogged until he shot a contested 3 with 1 second left and he missed.

They won!

now Nocioni, Manu, Delfino, Prigioni, Oberto, Scola get some rest!!!

Manu also mentioned that Chapu was suffering during halftime, but Manu wasn't sure what happened to him. He says that the US team is playing with a lot of courage, and are playing unbelievably well, so it's gonna be a very tough one. Hopefully, Chapu will be well enough for the semis. Manus said that on the court, it's still five-on-five. They've done it before and they'll try to do it again. Manu also said he tried to put a good arc on his last three, but he didn't have any legs left for that.

It's nice to know Argentina gained that kind of respect... but lets be logical for a sec... is almost imposible for THIS argentina team to beat THIS USA team.

Manu is tired (6 games in 12 days), Nocioni is hurted, Prigioni is irregular and will probably get sloppy with the defencive intencity Team USA is showing, Delfino can save you as ez as he can kill you with his shooting, our bench is TERRIBLE, USA team is playing like a real team and is on a mission to show the world they are still the best... I'm missing anything?

the thing about USA is like in 2004 they hadn't played a team with a perimeter player that knows how to handle NBA pressure like Manu who hides and covers the ball in his arms so all you can try to do is reach in and will hit his arms every time, something the refs let the lakers get away with in the WCF. Manu as the primary ball handler will limit TO that are the forefront of USA offense, they have a 3 way offense: full court pressure results in TO fastbreak for dunk layup, 3 pointers, plus and 1 layups. So if you can atleast limit one of those elements of USA offense you have a chance

It's going to be extremely difficult for this Argentina team to beat this USA team. Slowly but inevitably, this cycle is coming to an end. A number of key players during those glorious years are no longer with the team: first Sconochini, then Montecchia, now Pepe Sánchez, Herrmann and Wolkowyski, plus others are not at such a high level as they used to be (Oberto).

Not only that, but the professional growth of our core (though wonderful) has brought along more obligations towards their clubs, making their regular training sessions more and more difficult. Then you have the coaching aspect, where Hernandez hasn't been up to Magnano's standards be that in Xs and Os or leading the group (he's had a few incidents with more than one player). As a result, team play is not where it used to be.

These issues were partially offset by the fact that the top players are still at their prime (Manu, Nocioni, Scola), plus Prigioni has emerged as a reliable PG option and Delfino, for as much as he's made me suffer, is still an intenational level talent. As a result, the Argentina NT as presently constituted is better than just about every opponent... almost.

I think Spain has surpassed us in the last couple of years, and this USA team would have been extremely difficult for our best teams (2002-2004), and even more so for this one... particularly now that Manu should be less than 100%, and Nocioni seems injured. In summary, this time around it would appear the Argentina NT will have it tougher than ever to try and repeat the glory of yesteryear.

With that in mind, I'd have to say I'm already satisfied with what they've done, and I won't say a word if they fail to get to the final, or even worse, get a medal altogether. They've done way to much already, more than any of us would have dreamed of 10 years ago, and for that they deserve our eternal gratitude.

Still, our guys have proven plenty of times what they're made of and I will never give up on them, and anything can happen in a given game, so... go Argentina!

I believe this link may show the whole game. If not, it will at least show highlights. Just select basketball in the channel section. Follow the instructions. It just asks for your zip code, and cable provider. Finally, select the game you would like to see. Enjoy! Go Spurs Go!!!

Read what I said. You're making my point.

I stated it was a good shot to begin with.

Little bit of confusion here. I think you think I'm referring to Ginobili's shot, which you did say was a decent enough shot and I agree.

I'm actually referring to Spanoulis' shot at the end of the game which you weren't very fond of to say the least. All my posts were actually referring to that shot, not Manu's lol.

I really don't care if they loose by 30...15...40...
They showed they really want this with all their hearts and probably more than anyone else, and I am pretty sure they'll leave it all against the US.
I am so proud of having this guys representing Argentina, overcoming all odds, fights, money issues and being a TEAM.
VAMOS ARGENTINA CARAJO!

I would agree with that about previous US teams since 92 but I really feel this US team wants it as bad as anyone. Still, it is fun to watch the Argies play. I am looking forward to a fun game, too bad its not for Gold. :toast

No doubt....Manu doesn't seem to know any other way...which will make this game even better.

I'm waiting for the miracle to happen, again. If there's a chance, there's hope.

But I have already set my mind for a defeat. I just want Argentina to make the Dream Team sweat. They've been winning it all too easily. I don't want to see a blowout of dunks and alley-oops like in a meaningless AS game. A US >10 point lead and some nice moves by manu would make my day.

Hey ArgCuntFan, I stand by my comments. This is the first game I've seen a clutch performance from Delfino since he left Italy for the NBA.

I'm happy that Delfino was clutch today and that he made me eat crow. Hopefully this is a new beginning in his career, and he stops being an underachiever. Because, so far, that's how you must describe his career. The guy has the conditions to be like Manu, but he's happy in the bench in the NBA. Hopefully the Russian experience helps him gain his confidence back.

If you are looking to start shit up and look like a tough guy on the internet, you better find someone else to play that game.

PS
Since you're bringing shit up, How was that bet relating Scola and the recent playoffs First Round? Did you man up and stick to your word, since you're so gangsta?
