I was just talking to a kiosk owner in the mall about different forms of currency people use to pay.
He told me that several years ago, he was a day late on his $90 phone bill and the company called to harass him about it, demading that he pay the balance right away along with a ten dollar penalty fee.
The guy was angry about being hassled but agreed to bring the payment in.
Before going to the phone company the man went to the bank and exchanged $ 90 in bills to pennies!!!
The bank only gave out rolled pennies. The guy broke each and every roll until all 9,000 pennies were in a bag.
The man took the bag to the phone company counter and presented it as payment.
The cashier tried to turn away the pennies but he insisted she take them since they were cash after all.
The guy said it took three cashiers and hour to verify the funds.
Crazy, right! :wow

I think the Mom did exactly the right thing, sorry Angel. When a child saves up money for something it's important for them to pay for the item with the actual money they saved up. If they turn in their ones for 20's then they have a harder time understanding just how much they are spending.
Haven't you ever seen a child get a ten dollar bill in one birthday card and ten ones in another? They generally get way more excited at the ten one-dollar bills because it seems like they have more money.
There is time when they are a little older to teach them about carrying larger bills.
That being said, I used to tell my daughter, when she was little, that it's better to spend your time with a guy who has a pocketful of paper money than a pocketful of coins. :lol
