...who would it be? I'm talking about cloning that particular player to 12!

The question was asked to some players in the show NBA XL. Thought I'd pop it here to have a nice discussion...

Players that I remember answering were:

Chris Bosh - he picked Oscar Robertson. He explained: so that his team will average triple-double! hehe...

Jarvis Hayes picked Big O as well.

Larry Hughes and Dwight Howard both picked Kevin Garnett

Brevin Knight, Dre Miller, Chris Webber and Jalen Rose all picked Magic Johnson.

Grant Hill and Webber (again) picked Michael Jordan

Rose also picked Isiah Thomas...

Tayshaun Prince picked his teammate, Ben Wallace...

How about you, who would you clone into 12?

Tayshaun Prince picked Ben Wallace? Tay means 12 Big Ben? oh noooo...
Can you imagine your team averaging 40% in FT....

and how about if other team have 12 Ron Artest?...its not NBA...its Royal Rumble...haha!...

kidding aside...
1 TD already have 2 rings...how about 12 TD's on the floor...?...(im not talking to FT % also...hehe)...i want to face 12 KG's team.

12 of the same player?? That means the same guy has to play all 5 positions? Has to be Magic.

Key definition, clone into 12.

Clear choice for me is Earvin Johnson. Magic proved he could play and defend all 5 postions. You need a team to win.

Best player is clearly Michael Jordan, but in the context of the question, it's Magic in a team context.

I saw the Big O play...a lot...and he wouldn't be able to deal with Magic nor Michael. O was a little bit too much right hand for today's game, although he was a truly great player.

Magic Johnson in a second.

He's overrated more than Paul McCartney.

Could Magic have guarded the likes of Shaq or Duncan?

I would probably take him, but I might also consider someone like a Kevin Garnett.

As a teenager, I had a chance to see him play at the peak of his career a couple of times. My choice is Arvydas Sabonis, a 7'3" 280 lb player, who was the best passing center of all time, could play all 5 positions, and was able to shot 60% from the field, 40% from 3pt land, and 80% from the FT line.

Magic Johnson is a very good choice as well.

I saw some clips of Sabonis dunking on Drob. That man had hops back then!

It is a shame he did not get to play here in his prime :(

Imagine Sabonis and Drexler! What a dynamite duo that would have been.

I saw Sabonis last year here in Slovenia, when he play in Ljubljana with Žalgiris. Big man, with big and long hands.

Jordan.

I don't care what you say about being overrated. Jordan.

But doesn't that present a bit of a paradox:

If there were 5 Jordans on the court, which one would hog the ball? :lol

Magic Johnson, in the context of the question.

If I had to pick one player to build around for a regular NBA team, it would be Shaq.

12 Magics on the team? LMAO ... who the hell is gonna play defense then? They'd make the Phx Suns of today and the 2003 Mavs look like defensive powerhouses ...

Answer is easy ... 12 X Michael Jordan ... best offensive player ever and one of the top 5 defensive players of all time.

The answer may well be right in front of our faces:

"King" James - like Magic 6-9, big enough to play any position and seemingly intelligent enough to listen to his coach and learn defense.

Give him two years, some more growth/BB maturity, and the discussion about anyone else may be irrevelant.

No shit, what a no-brainer.....

Starting center, NBA Finals:

42 points (14-of-23 from the field, 14-of-14 from the foul line), 15 rebounds and seven assists.

We all know he could play the other positions but for those that may have not know he could play center if he needed to.
