I'm not going to listen to that garbage so my thoughts will be based on the arrogant backasswards approach they took within the industry and their ability to aggrivate, annoy and attempt to manipulate the general public by shutting down blogs they promoted as honest and fair reviews.

Fuck Metallica for all eternity. Their music went to shit anyway and to be quite honest it was overrated in the first place....including their early shit that everyone wants to tout as life altering and epic. It was average or slightly above average at best.

Metallica did produce the greatest documentary ever - Some Kind of Monster. I laughed so hard during it. :tu:tu

Cyanide sucked. Won't listen to more cause of it. Old Metallica is great, anything new blows including Black.

I remember my first ever thread on Spurstalk was about how much I hated Metallica, and how I think they suck after Black Album.

I forget who I was arguing against

Is this album produced by Rick Rubin....if so than it's a monumental step up from Bob Rock. That alone is what's keeping me intrigued. I do agree that pre Black album is where it's at. Yes, post black album there a few songs that are ok, but from an album standpoint they are lacking.

These new songs are pretty decent.....still I here that there is the Unforgiven 3 on this new album....should let that trend die....

New song: "My Apocalypse"

Meh. Sounds like St. Anger. The snare still sounds like shit, WTF?

Awful. They just don't have it anymore. I used to think Hetfield had a commanding voice. He just sounds like a whiny pussy now. It sounds like he's trying to sound like Tom Araya on the "My Apocalypse" song.

Lars has to be one of the worst drummers I've ever heard. Is his kit even tuned?

The guitar tone is slightly better than some previous albums over the last few years but it's still monumentally weak.

"The Day The Never Comes" is a rehash of their same new crap. Nothing original.

The Artists Formerly Known as Metallica have sucked ever since the Black Album. And Ulrich is one of the weakest drummers in the history of metal. Guys like Dave Lombardo, Frost, Gene Hoglan, and Hellhammer could drum circles around that hack.

And Mustaine owns their asses, not sure why he's still so bitter at them.

Metallica may be crap nowadays, but Kirk Hammett is ace.

Metallica was pretty fucking awesome, but ever since after the VERY FIRST NOTE they played they have sucked pretty bad after that. But that one note they first ever played was pretty good.

If sound had a smell. . . it'd be smell like three year old shit pie, topped with swirling shit and a shit-coated cherry sitting on a table in a room with a dead man sititng in his own shit and piss and vomit and other bodily fluids for three years.

EDIT (After listening to it a second time, I thought I would do my assesment of the song justice by adding on to the initial one)

. . and who died during the process of making a "painting" done on a 15 by 10 ft. canvas for which the medium was shit, and which is still in the room, a room which has also been polluted with the nasty smell of dead, rotting, oozing, shit covered bodies of at least 20 people, whose identities range from friends and neighbors of the original man to cops and investigators who died shortly after stepping foot in the house due to the unfathomable smell as they tried to find out what was going on.

Hanneman and King both go on record saying that Kirk Hammett is the most overrated guitarist in today's rock scene.

He's layed down some pretty nasty stuff over the years for that to hold much weight.

Sounds like St. Anger revisited.

I currently prefer listening to the new Slipknot mixed in with NIN's Year Zero and The Fragile. Been on that kick for a few days.

I feed my hard rock jones with Tool, these days. Metallica is so last decade, sue your fans, release shit albums today. They treated Jason like total shit, too. He was in the band for like 16-17 years, and they treated him like a studio musician the whole time.

The whole album leaked in case anyone's interested in listening to it. Most people seem to be calling it their best since AJFA.

It's a decent record. Nothing amazing but there's a few good songs on there.

They weren't metal gods or anything, but they had some good songs in the 80's. My all time favorite song I still enjoy all these years later...

Fuck Metallica. Sellouts AND they prosecute their own fans. FUck em. Their last great album was Justice......Black was OK...the rest FAIL.

I met a boy wearing Vans, 501s, and a
Dope Beastie t, nipple rings, and
New tattoos that claimed that he
Was OGT,
From '92,
The first EP.

And in between
Sips of Coke
He told me that
He thought
We were sellin' out,
Layin' down,
Suckin' up
To the man.

Well now I've got some
A-dvice for you, little buddy.
Before you point the finger
You should know that
I'm the man,

And if I'm the man,

Then you're the man, and
He's the man as well so you can
Point that fuckin' finger up your ass.

All you know about me is what I've sold you,
Dumb fuck.
I sold out long before you ever heard my name.

-tool

people who call entertainers sell outs are some dumb fucking mother fuckers you ought to get raped by shaq and/or kobe.

Would being raped by, lets say, Heath Shuler suffice?

I heard the new cd for the first time yesterday and although I miss the and justice for all and puppets metallica, I don't hate the stuff after. St Anger was crap however and this cd is defiantly better than St Anger. Some of the songs on the new cd are catchy at times. Im still listening to it but I understand its not for everyone but it could be worse.

I came in with very low expectations after St. Anger so I am somewhat pleased. It still is however the 2nd to the last for sure.

Eh, it's ok, I think people's music tastes changed. Metallica's latest CD is classic Metallic for the most part; some songs lack any catchy lyric/riff, but for the most part the stuff is all right. I like Unforgiven III, but outside that everything else is just....meh.
