My company is thinking about hiring this consultant permanently, and I have a feeling he is not being honest about his education. He lists his education as having achieved 3 master's degrees in about four years time. The funny thing is that he lists different dates of graduation on a couple of different web sites I have found him listed on. He is a pretty slick talker, so my company loves him and they think he could sell anything they asked him to.

Is there a simple way to verify a person's education? I would bet a hundred dollars that he is not being honest about his background.

Just a side note: he fabricated an e-mail conversation between me and him. Then the dumb bastard had the nerve to forward it to our CEO. He wasn't trying to get me in trouble, but he was trying to make himself look good.

I want more grounds for dismissal. He's not a bad person - as far as I now - but the fabrication makes me question his integrity.

Didn't the company verify his education claims?

He should be able to provide official transcripts from any academic institution.

If he can sell the stuff then why do you need to see if he went to college? If he can get the job done thats all that matters

You obviously don't need a degree to sell....but, why would you lie your ass off about it? It is just very shady to me.

Simply contact the universities and ask for verification, graduation dates, etc... you didn't think to do that? Maybe you should be fired?

Nah, I don't mean that, but it seems pretty obvious.

They don't release that information without signed consent from the student.

I spoke to my brother - an attorney - and he said to drop it. He feels that the consultant could file a pretty good lawsuit against me, if I did not have solid evidence.

What city was it around here that they busted the mayor for lying about his background? I think it just happened in the spring.

Maybe it's the same guy:lol
