Chelsea have confirmed striker Andriy Shevchenko will rejoin AC Milan subject to a medical.

A return to Milan has been speculated upon during much of Shevchenko's two years at Stamford Bridge and the Premier League club confirmed tonight he will make the move back to the San Siro.

However, Chelsea and Milan have not yet disclosed details of the transfer or confirm whether the switch is a permanent move or loan switch. The Blues signed the Ukraine international in the summer of 2006 but he failed to live up to his reputation as the world's finest striker.

The former Dynamo Kiev forward scored just four league goals in the 2006-07 campaign and five last season as injuries and form undermined his impact in west London.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani told his club's television channel Shevchenko will undergo a medical on Monday.

'After a series of frantic phone calls during the day today, we have reached an agreement with Chelsea,' he said.

'Andriy returns to the Rossoneri, tomorrow he will be in Milan, Monday he will undergo a medical, then he will sign a contract and from Tuesday he will be available to Carlo Ancelotti.

'We succeeded in bringing home the player who in the last 50 years has scored the most goals in our shirt.

'President (Silvio) Berlusconi and I am happy, as is our coach and I believe also our players.

'I believe that Milan are the only club in the world to have three European players of the year in our squad.'

Galliani added: 'Andriy has returned home and I am happy about it. I am a Milan fan and I am very happy.

'I've spoken to Andriy 48 times in the past three hours...the terms of the agreement are very private.

'Between today and tomorrow Andriy will be at Milan and he will start again his life as a Milan player.

'Andriy made a mistake in leaving and I believe that in the past two years he has realised that this is his home.

'Now he has made his financial sacrifices but at this point the only thing that matters is that he returns to us.'

If Schev can regain 70% of his form, a team with him, Ronny, Pato and Kaka will be DANGEROUS. Not to mention Seedorf and Pirlo.

that makes them an older team, not a better one.

Milan also acquired Philippe Senderos from Arsenal

God Senderos is horrible, i was on a high after the Sheva signing, and then that hits me. To be fair though he is big which will help since Milan have been so terrible defending set pieces the last couple years.

I like it, could use a bit more speed and youth through the middle but people seem to forget Pirlo (29) and Gattuso (28) are still in their prime since theyve been around for so long.

The defence needs to get younger asap, Bonera hasnt really been able to establish himself.

AC Milan pick up where they left off last season by losing to Bologna at home. Another performance like this, and I bet Ancelotti leaves. Milan were the far better team, especially in the 2nd half, but Dinho's little lob cross to the 2nd post won't fool anyone after 10 tries. Sheva played very rusty, Ambrosini busts his ass as usual, Dinho looked tired even in the first half, and Zambrotta was the player of the match for Milan imo. He was solid in defense and created his own opportunities up top, including a couple of nice shots on goal. Pato came in late and looked like he had never touched a football in his life. I didn't see him connect even one pass.

All in all, it's just one game but it's pretty devastating considering the hype surrounding this champions league-less season.

Yeah, Sheva and Pato were ghosts out there. Flamini looked decent but they couldn't finish with their opportunities.
