GET READY to look deep inside Charles Barkley. The former Sixers superstar has been asked to undergo a televised colonoscopy as part of the "Stand Up to Cancer" special being aired Sept. 5 by NBC, CBS and ABC.

Barkley said yesterday he's flying to Alabama today to prepare for the procedure on Friday.

Sir Charles, 45, says he was surprised that the show approached him, but was happy to participate in promoting awareness for colonoscopies, which screen for prostate and other cancers.

Barkley said that when he told his friend Fred Lavner, of NB2 Apparel, about being asked to undergo the procedure on television, Lavner replied they were "probably just looking for the celebrity with the biggest ass."

Barkley may also soon be seen on the Golf Channel. The Hollywood Reporter just announced a project in progress that would feature golf coach Hank Haney helping Barkley improve his swing.

The jokes keep coming. :lol

Charles Barkley to Televise His Colonoscopy (http://blogs.smarter.com/sports/2008/08/21/charles-barkley-to-televise-his-colonoscopy/)

Just when you thought you’ve seen all the sides of Charles Barkley, he finds another way to share himself with you.

Through a colonoscopy.

That’s right folks. Sir Charles is going to show you what his good ol’ colon looks like. I wonder how TNT’s coverage is going to be on this. Do you think Kenny Smith is going to give some commentary, halfway through the procedure?

“It looks like Charles needs to relax a bit more out there. That camera is have a hard time finding it’s way around his defensive spleen. I like to see him loosen up and just go with the flow. Ok, back to you Doc.”

But with all humor aside, Barkley is going to televise the procedure in the name of a cancer benefit. I guess letting people know the “inner” you is always a good way to promote having a doctor probe you. I’m in!

Say what you want about Sir Charles but he has some cojones for doing this. I hate the idea of a colonoscopy never mind the fact if someone asked me if they could televise it. fuck that.
