View Full Version : Pau Gasol - softest basketball player ever?

One hard foul and he bricks both his FT's and disappears. Kinda like the last game against the US.

Yeah it's really tough to hit wide open jumpers when Bosh flops, and dunk alley-oops over Deron Williams.

Rudy Fernandez and Navarro deserve all the props in the world. If they didn't get such a pussy effort from Pau they might have won.

Nice point blank miss in the clutch.

^No. Stop hating. Gasol was good today, Spain just wasn't good enough.

Fernandez was good. Navarro was good. Their leader didn't deliver when he had to.

I guess if Deron Williams was guarding him all game he would have been able to do more.

And he had a great game today.

Yeah missing every shot he put up that wasn't an alley-oop over Deron Williams is really playing great.

Missing point blank at a clutch moment is a great game.

Getting his ass hammered and bricking both FT's is just what his team needed.

Just because a bucket is easy doesn't mean it should be discredited. He deserves credit for positioning himself for those alley oops. Also he made the wide open jumper when Bosh got steamrolled by Marc and a nice hook over Dwight Howard. He thoroughly outplayed the USA frontline today, but the perimeter shooting of USA was too good, too clutch.

I liked the play where Gasol was holding Howard's hand after the US grabbed a defensive rebound....and Howard wanted his hand back, so he jerked it away and smacked Gasol right in the jaw......all you see is Gasol crying like the bitch he is to the refs and the entire pussy team screaming and crying from the ESP bench.

ESP is the only group of players who cries more than NBA players.......I can without a doubt crown ESP and the biggest bunch of crybabies in basketball.

The full on retardation on your part was to suggest that him reaching Finals has anything to do with his toughness. As a matter of fact, he's never won ANY of those finals (he didn't play in the WC final)
And how does being the top scorer in the Olympics (with a mindbogling .6 average over Yao Ming) makes him any tougher?

I don't think he's the softest ever, but he's definitely the softer of the bunch right now. It has nothing to do with the Lakers really. He was always like this from his Memphis days. I think being second fiddle to Kobe is the best that happened to him. I think he's very talented. But he is soft, and as you described pretty well, he runs away from contact.

So then you are not in agreement with the OP who said he was the "softest player ever"? Get your positions straight Kerry...

One of the more effective lineups ESP had out there was when both Gasol brothers were on the floor at the same time with Pau playing PF. This is exactly how things will go with the Lakers when Bynum gets back.

Um, none of this matters because the Suns sold the rights to Rudy Fernandez who was dominant.

Navarro just chased the money in Europe, but he's got that runner/floater down pat. I wouldn't want to be stuck on Grizz either. Also, why couldn't Chris Paul stay in front of Navarro? Makes no sense to me.

Also, Pau is soft, esp. when compared to Marc, who did give Bosh a nice elbow to the face.

i have to agree with this guy. Gasol may flop he may avoid contact, but he did lead the Olympics in scoring so you cant call him soft. Pau is a finesse player and in my book there's a difference between finesse and soft. Being a finesse player means that you physically tend to avoid contact in order to play better, but soft is pretty much saying you're a pussy who cant really handle the game at all and he certainly doesnt fall in that category. C-Webb in Sacramento was a finesse player and i wouldve killed to have him with Dallas.

he still hit big shots vs the US. i dont understand why anybody can still call him soft?
