If any of you guys saw the Finals today...Juan Carlos teardrop tearing US apart and Rudy Fernandez is just scoring all over the place. Any of you guys know Juan contract condition overseas? How bout Rudy..any chance trade him? USA won as predicted, but if Kobe is not playing today, the result will be the same as previous Olympics....good job USA and lets bring Juan to SA

Blazers have a very promising team this year:
Rudy Fernandez, Oden, LaMarcus Aldridge, Brandon Roy, Travis Outlaw, Steve Blake
That team's going to be scary this year.

Yeah I think they are going to be very good. They won't be title contenders yet, but they are going to be fun to watch and very competitive.

you want more point guards???
Tony isn't good enough?
We don't need anymore guards
We need a decent center to replace Oberto.

True, they probably won't be contenders but I wouldn't be very surprised if they were close to the top in the West. Definitely an entertaining team.

Seriously, its' WAYY too crowded in the West. Last year was crowded, it looks like this year is going to be crazy hard in the West. West has to make room for another 50 win team.

Oberto isn't great, he's about useable. KT does a decent backup job.
I don't think the Spurs have a backup at PG and that could be a problem. Either Tony plays big minutes or the Spurs have a huge dropoff when TP goes to the bench. And at SG, you have a hobbled Manu right now and no Brent Barry and 1 year older FInley.

lets bring Juan to SA
Lets not.
One game does not a stud make. Remember this phrase: "The sun shines on a dog's ass some days". A little guy named Shane Heal from Australia who caused quite a ruckus among Team USA by trying to punk them out-even faced up Chuck Barkley and scored a bunch of points then tried the NBA...he sucked. His teammate, the greatest Aussie of all time Andrew Gaze tried the same...they both played for the Spurs AND THEY BOTH SUCKED.

The thing with the Blazers is that their potential is really sky high right now. They have a lot of young talent but I'm sure they won't be able to keep everyone of them if they end up being really good. But even so it should be fun to watch.

Damn I didnt know Andrew Gaze was playing for Spurs. I was living in Aussie for 4 years, he was my fave player (perth Wildcats). He's better playing in NBL than NBA.

Of course I know, its just an expression of how packed Western Conference already is. Its just my feeling that its not fair that West keep getting stronger. NOBODY WOULD EXPECT IT TO BE DONE ANYWAY. Im just amazed why most of the teams who got improved is in West not East. In East only Cavs and Bulls who will likely become good, and beside PIston and Celtics, everyone else is just racing to reach 500. How bout West? I mean even Clippers now looks good, how crazy is that? We definitely dont need team like Portland to get better as well, obviously this offseason we dont make any much improvement. As much as I trust FO, it seems that its getting harder every year to win...

I don't see good things for Spurs this year, if they make the Playoffs, it will be in the bottom half. FO has not done enough to compete this year.
1. Lakers
2. Rockets
3. Hornets
4. Jazz
5. Blazers
6. Suns
7. Spurs
8. ????
These teams are on the rise:
Lakers improved by doing nothing because Bynum is back
Portland got Rudy & Oden
Rockets got Artest
New Orleans lost Pargo but got Posey
Jazz are improving as a team, they have the talent already
Memphis has Mayo, Gay, Lowry, etc
Timberwolves have Al Jefferson, Love, Mike Miller & Randy Foye

I forgot about Bayless, he looked pretty damn good too.
But no, the title isn't within reach yet, give it another 2-3 years.

Actually, the Blazers were average last year, not good. 42-40 is not good.
Historically, veterans win titles. Adding a bunch of 20 somethings is not a part of the championship formula.
You troll. :D
Blazers will be good in a few years, but for now I expect them to be a low playoff seed or miss the playoffs entirely.
If you want to bring those players, you have to do it before they start to shine, when they're still young promising guys... like spurs did with Tiago :depressed

even if Splitter and Fernandez's draft positions were flipped, Fernandez wouldn't be a Spur.
Portland went all out courting Fernandez to convince him to come over with big trips overseas and in-person wooing, Spurs would have just done their usual and sent an intern to say hello while telling the prospect "we might want you but we don't need you" and promise nothing. Fernandez would've pulled a Splitter.

Yup, he was very well liked here in S.A.-he was charming, affable, and a fan favorite. Always got a huge cheer when he came in the game, but just never did what we expected. Think a poor, poor man's Brent Barry. Would pass up shots, head fake, dump it off to the closest player, and MAYBE hit an open shot-but as a lockerroom guy, I heard he was great.
I remember a story he was telling with Sean Elliott about meeting for a movie and how he couldn't find the "Hoobnah" exit or the "Access Road" exit. :lol

Yah, I know, it looks like blasphemy but I just get the feeling there's going to be a changing of the guard this year and Spurs FO will finally get off their azz and gear up for the 2010 free agent sweepstakes.
What about that young guard, Rubio?
Damn that kid Rubio did look good. I usually don't buy into the hype but watching him play, he seemed more mature and NBA ready in the Olympic Gold game than Derrick Rose did in the Kansas Final.

Lakers dont have quality depth for bigmen. Lets see if Bynum can stay healthy when he returns. That will be HUGE for LA. Lets also see how well the Lakers recover from that Finals beatdown as well. They have their share of questions and concerns as well.

Losing Ronny Turiaf will hurt but the Lakers did a good job in replacing him with Josh Powell, more of a tough player who can bang around some more. Josh Powell was quite a steal actually.
This is also Chris Mihm's contract year, I suspect he'll be playing his best. Pre-injury Chris Mihm was serviceable 10/10 guy.
And then there's mBenga who might get re-signed.
Overall, the Lakers are a very large team with 3 7 footers and another 3 guys who can play Smallball Center. In fact, the Lakers are over-stocked at the C/PF/SF spots. Only small guys on the team are 6'1 Fisher and 6'2 Farmer, most everybody else can play at PG,SG,SF which is great for the triangle.
As for the beatdown, the Lakers probably still feel they should have won the Finals so they should be ready for the Christmas showdown with Bynumite back in the fold. The guy the Lakers feared the most was probably Posey since he was the x-factor.
Things are looking extremely promising in Lakerland.

IF Mihm can stay healthy and get consistent rotation minutes, he wont be a bad backup. Powell is a poor mans Turiaf who isnt bad for backup minutes. And a healthy Bynum doesnt hurt either. It comes down to if there starting center and backup center can stay healthy. If they do, then I would like their chances to get back to the finals.
IMHO Pierce was the biggest pain in the ass for the Lakers. Lakers "feared" him more than any other celtic.

That still doesn't explain the Suns being above the Spurs. The suns lose a coach, get a little older, and didn't really do shit to improve. If you think a full season with a healthy Shaq is gonna happen you are full of it.
I like the Hornets to be in the top 2 again this year. I think the Lakers will fall a little bit just out of Kobe being an ass head. He can't be a decent teammate for longer then 6 months at a time, and the Olympics used up a lot of his phony unselfishness.
Oden won't ever play a full season without some kind of ailment. Sorry to all those who crowned him Bill Russell before he even did anything, but the man already has arthritis and gout. This season he'll get something weird like restless leg syndrome and be out 3 months.:sleep

I just dont understand why there is a guy who put Suns rank higher than Spurs. Facts from history tell us that they always be 2nd rounder playoffs ;Shaq is already 36 and Nash is good but old ( I respect Nash he is still one of the best PG in NBA). Time and again Spurs always beat them as well..and I didnt made this up, I just quote from playoffs stats. Hornets can rank higher than Spurs but Suns is definitely out of Spurs league
