ESPN.com reported Aug. 15 that the sides had reached a verbal agreement on what NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein is a two-year deal worth $5 million with the second season at Finley's option.

Finley, 35, started 61 games last season, with Manu Ginobili providing a spark for San Antonio behind him. Finley averaged 10.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists, playing in all 82 games in his 13th NBA season. He shot 37 percent from 3-point range.

Finley averaged 6.7 points, 1.9 rebounds and one assist during 17 playoff games last season.

In his second season with San Antonio in 2007, Finley was part of the team's run to a fourth title in nine seasons.

Finley, a two-time All-Star, was first signed by the Spurs in September 2005.

ESPN.com senior writer Marc Stein and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I guess this is the remaining amount on the Spurs MLE... This is a little high for a 35 yr old veteran....

Uh, Spurs have Finley's Bird rights, so they didn't have to use any part of any salary exception. They still have the remainder of the MLE and the complete LLE.
