View Full Version : "The Lucky Man's Wife"

That is the name of a painting that will appear in an art show this December in Aspen. Mrs. Chopper was the model for the artist, an experience that she loved, BTW. She and I went and viewed the piece before it goes to the publicist for photographing and it's beautiful.
I'm definitely proud of her. Not too many 39 year old women can inspire an artist enough to not only seek her out to model for him, but then to give that name to his work.
I guess I am a lucky man.
Unfortunately I'll need to pony up $14,000 if I want to buy the original from the gallery where it is being featured. I think I'll need to call Jim for a loan. I wonder if Duff still has his number.

:lol You'd think the artist's muse would get a discount?!?

Any chance that you'll post a photo of the painting on the forum?

That's what I thought!! He told me he is planning to give us a print at some point, but that's not quite the same thing.

I think EHJ is smart enough to know what a mistake that would be!

WTF? I hope it's at least a lithograph.
You know how these 'artistic' types are. Sheesh!

I was just going to ask if he would give you a print. Congrats to her, by the way. That's very cool.

When we get a copy of it I probably will. The only problem is that it's a bit more revealing than a lot of the boys in here can handle I think.

Bravo, to Mrs. Chopper for being the inspriation she is! That's amazing. Make sure Mrs. Chopper knows how proud your are.
I think the print is a wonderful idea. That way they both get something from this collaboration. He makes money off of the original and your wife still gets what seems to be a quite valuable print as payment for her participation.

Hmm...
For his next project, the artist will be singing, "I wish I had Chopper's girl..."

That was the only part about the project that made me a bit uneasy. But his models are all beautiful, and he's somewhat famous so I wasn't too worried about him being professional during this process.
Plus, being a 400 pound Burger King drive-thru manager with 3 inch back hair, I figured that I am the standard by which all other men are judged.

I only say that because I know you tell others (us) how proud you are & I just wanted to make sure you were sharing the same sentiments directly to her. As a wife, I know hearing it directly from my husband, as opposed to 3rd party, makes it all the more special. It sounds as though you doing it all perfectly.:toast

I, too, am a great and famous artist and will accommodate the needs of beautiful women who wish to become the muses for my future fame by posing.
But unlike Shoog, I'm at least willing to post my masterpiece here:

I don't know about any portrait work, but if you can do that mural sized, FWD, I'd like to hire you. I've always wanted to be able to claim myself as a patron of the arts.

I can confirm this.
He only needed the model for a couple of weeks in order to create this masterpiece.

I had a moment of weakness. I haven't been able to share it with anyone who actually knows us personally (I think Mrs. Chopper has only told her closest friend so far), and so I use this site as a "pressure release valve" for times that I want to share something but can't share with the folks I'm around everyday. My own safe escape I suppose.

Fortunately, I'm far too classy to follow up on pressure release valve.

A man admires an artist's latest work "The Lucky Man's Wife".
Is it a two-sided painting?

Actually it was her call....she's a very intelligent woman and wouldn't put herself in a dangerous situation. Trust me, this isn't some guy who owns a few paint brushes, with a studio in his garage selling portraits at the local art show.
I've already been told that I've exceeded my disclosure limit on this so I can't tell you who the artist is, but his works are sold throughout the world. 15 years ago my wife and I were in a gallery in California that was selling his paintings and my wife and I were talking about how amazing his art was, and she said then that if she ever had an opportunity to model for him that she'd love to.
I have no problem with that at all. Hell, I'd of modeled for him if given the opportunity. I'd of even worn my BK cap and a big 400 pound smile. But, alas, no invite came my way.

Was it Thomas Kinkade and did he add 'light' around certain areas being the 'painter of light' and all. :lol
I still think it's cool, but you still should have gotten the Muse discount!
