Earl Monroe retired too. I liked him. Nice spin moves!

He was ridiculously overrated even when healthy.

Defense should improve if he's healthy. He won't stay healthy the whole season. Still probably a middle of the pack playoff team. They're still weak on the wings.

Kapono averaged 7 ppg last season and lost most of his minutes to a free agent off the street. Anthony Parker is solid, but basically a poor man's Raja Bell. The Raptors don't have an upper tier wing scorer like most good playoff teams have. Forget the Kobes and LeBrons and Wades and T-Macs. They don't even have a Joe Johnson or Michael Redd or Rip Hamilton caliber player at the wings. The last two seasons, the Raptors haven't had a wing player average more than 12.5 ppg. Parker and Kapono and Moon aren't bad players. But to say they aren't weak on the wings would be naive.

I think they will be good next season with Calderon,Parker,Moone,Bosh, and Oneal...They will make it to the playoffs and will get kicked out in round 2..

Jermaine 'O Neal, if motivated could help the Raptors quite a bit but not enough to make the Raptors a serious contender.

In his early years, he worked on his game and conditioning. In the recent years, he was just lazy in the offseason and got overweight and out of shape. He'll help but he could have done alot more with his career.

O'Neal is a shell of the bum he once was.

He was a legit MVP candidate in 2003/2004. He was a DPoY candidate before and after 2003/2004. It wasn't all the great coaching of Rick Carlisle that allowed JO to be in that position. It was legit talent. Now, maybe he was lazy, I don't know what he actually did in the off-season, but for about 3 years, he was in the conversation with the best of them, and had injuries and a bad attitude not cut his time with the Pacers short (not to mention his involvement in the brawl that he was disproportionately over-punished for) he might still be in that same category.
I think JO will do well as 2nd fiddle to the more finesse Bosh. They will hopefully complement each other nicely. He might not get gaudy numbers, but he will anchor a great defense, should the coaching staff choose to use him that way.

O'Neal was overrated in his prime especially on the offensive end. But he could be a pretty good role player to compliment Bosh and Calderon. The Raps have 5th seed written all over the them.

they now have 3 pfs 1 pg 0 centers and no legit wing players

Only teams better in East are celtics, magic, and cavs.

If his salary expectations were realistic, he would be a valuable player. However, you can't afford to pay him like a franchise-changing player, because he isn't.
