His name is Derek....and NO.

We don't need DA, and we don't need another undersized guard/forward.

A few friends of mine and I still have no clue why no NBA team likes Bonzi. Its a shame with all his talent he''s still out there in nowhere land. One of these days we might find out the truth behind Bonzi's inability to stick with an NBA team. Is he the Ricky Willliams of basketball?

Bonzi for the minimum, and cut him if the team culture doesn't work its magic and bring him into the fold...

With Manu out and then on restricted minutes, and Finley getting OLD fast, Bonzi's rebounding and scoring punch off the bench might be just what we need, if he can at least partly buy into 'team' (a big if). Bonzi as this season's Glenn Robinson? I'm intrigued.

...but offers will likely be matched. Probably why no one has made a play for him.

As for DA and Bonzi...NO and NO.

There is talk the Pacers want Landry. Rumors of $18 mil/3 yrs but then that's just fantalk. However they make a good case that Houston is incapable or unwilling to offering the full MLE due to their roster being completely stacked.

If they sign a dirtbag like Bonzi, that completely puts to rest the thought that they are trying a franchise image makeover. Bonzi is as bad or worse than anyone they've had there over the last five years when their image has gone into the toilet.

Sorry should have said the Pacers wanted Landry. Not Bonzi. Of course Bonzi is a local kid from Ball State too so who knows, maybe they do want him lol.

Houston won't let Landry go if he's healthy. But they are playing a tough negotiation hand with him about a pre-offer physical .

His refusal to give them the physical probably scares off the rest of the league.

I would let him walk if he refuses physical

If Bonzi is motivated and is shape, he would be a tremendous addition to Spurs.
The problem is that he has turned into a fat and lazy guy the past couple of years.

I wouldn't be against Spurs gambling on him for the min if he was agreed to sign for that money.

No way Anderson is not a player for spurs and neither Bonzi so no way...

Bonzi has never been motivated, other than in a contact year. If you look at his career stats, those years stand out like a sore thumb.

If he signs a 1 year contract, he will be in a contract year . :downspin:

Last year Bonzi was in shape. He was a pretty good rebounder but his shooting was inconsistent. It was not the same Bonzi on the Kings but he showed up and he could play. He wasn't the fat donut boy that played for Van Gundy.

Bonzi's problems are rarely on the court, with the exception of the times he spit on players during play and called them crackers. He's just a lazy fuck with talent who could have been an All Star, but instead just collected a paycheck.

Bonzi, unfortunately, is a headcase. A lot of raw, natural talent for scrappy play, but he's a little too loco en la cabeza.

I wish the NBA would put together an All-Headcase team. Artest, Wells, Sheed, Stephon Marbury, Carmelo. That would be fun to watch.

But then again, we have the Knicks.

I would totally give Bonzi the rest of the MLE for a season.

Hell, give him an option for a second.

The Spurs have waived bigger contracts in the past.

And his playing time, especially in the playoffs where you want veteran talent, wasn't anything special.

Nor did they try to keep him for another season.

No to Derick. With Bonzi, Pop would have to bring a double-decker bus to the airport to pick up all the baggage he carries with him.

Bonzi's a ham and egger. He's a poor man's Derrick Coleman without the sunny demeanor; a career underachiever.

DA: Never again.

Because he's nowhere near the player he was when he sported the silver & black.

He had a nickname in Portland: The Charmin Man. Why? Because he's tissue soft.

That's a hell-to-the-no.

To be honest, I would not be upset if the Spurs pulled Bonzi. He does fit a need and can do some good things off the bench. I could see him playing a lot for the Spurs in certain situations.

My loyalty ended when he signed an offer sheet with Portland. If I'd lived in San Antonio it would have ended when he had that news crew at his big giant house while he whined about money.
