After holding out making my choice I have made a decision. I was a Clinton supporter who was never 'wowed' by Obama. After she lost I was left with a choice between Republican light and far left Demo. Since the primaries ended I have leaned towards John McCain because I do think he is a man of the higest integrity and honor. I have never viewed him as a hard right lunatic and did not feel that he would try and appease 15% of the population (untlra conservatives) like Bush and Cheney did.

I like Obama alot however I did not feel he had the necessary experience right now to lead this country. I felt he would be great in 8 yrs (after a Clinton/Obama) but he was not the right choice in the present.



With all of that being said I have chosen to vote for Obama because when, not if, John Mccain becomes incapacitated I do not want palin anywhere near the White House. Anyone who thinks we went into Iraq to do God's work is not fit to lead this country. Her speech last night, while funny, was petty and unbecoming of a VP candidate. I was undecided, as well, but only because I hadn't seen all the candidates (I include third parties). Once the Green Party decided their candidate my decision was made for me.

Firstly, American government has visually and symbolically tied itself to ancient Greece since its inception. That's why we have Republicans and Democrats, why the White House and Capital Building are built in the Greek Revival style, why we have a Senate, etc.

Secondly, I may be supporting Obama in this election, but even I don't think he was out there with a hammer and nail building the set himself.

I've been in mass plenty of times where I disagree with what is being said. And I still give money to the Catholic church because I believe that their ministries for the whole are good. And I plan to baptism my child and send him to Catholic school. But do I think women should be priests? Yes. Do I believe that gays go to hell? No. I've sat through lots of sermons about both of those topics, and disagreed.

Just so you know, not every Obama supporter is a blind sheep who is hanging on his every word for guidance. I think he is the better option for the country for myriad reasons, and I can accept his imperfections because of what I believe he will pursue politically if in office. I don't know if he will be able to meet a significant fraction of his stated goals, but I know I won't be disappointed for lack of effort.
