I know for a fact the first 1.5 mins of that first tribute vid had more dunks than our centers have combined for since he retired.
A center that can dunk... the little things we took for granted.

I was there for David's entire career. I can't even count how many times i've seen him single handedly destroy teams throughout the season. Those clips are actually pretty tame compared to the dunks and moves i've seen him do in some games. People forget how much of a beast he was because they tend to remember the championship seasons which were at the tail end of his career. Even as I watched the last few years of his career I started to forget how good he was. That was until I saw a video kind of like these of his early years(but better lol). In his prime he was as good as any bigman to play the game if not better.

Garnett kind of pattened his game after robinsons. it just goes unnoticed due to robinsons lack of "intensity"

Wow....a reminder of how good we Spurs fans have had it. As someone who lived through the dark days after Gervin and before Robinson, trust me when I say that. When your starting center is a combonation of Petur Gudmunsson (for you Iceland fans), Mike Smrek and Frank Brickowski....you treasure every minute David Robinson and Tim Duncan played.

Amen. Not just the Spurs franchise but the whole NBA. Proof that there was pro basketball before 2000 and it was pretty good.
Props to you Screw_ston...your team had a pretty good center on and off the court as well. :toast
How Robinson and Olajuwon conducted themselves on and off the court should be mandatory viewing for rookies. They proved that you could be a hall of famer on the court and a gentleman off it.

The entire video probably has more dunks than the team has had since he left. Not a lot of dunkers around anymore.

watching that footage from the 71 point game reminds me just how shitty the talent was that surrounded 5-0 for most of his career.

im disappointed with those videos......It would have been nice to see at least one of his multiple block moments on one possession. I think it was against either Dallas or Minnesota when he had like 4 blocks on the same possession.....RELENTLESS.
I would love for the NBA to release a David Robinson tribute DVD. His 20-25 greatest games (I was thinking 50, but that may be a bit much) in full length, no commercials of course. I would like to include a special features DVD with background info, interviews, commentary from opposing players and coaches, commercials, etc.
In fact, the NBA could do an entire series of videos like this.
Bill Russell, Kareem, Wilt, Magic, Bird, Jordan, Barkley, West, Olajuwon, Ewing, Miller, Gervin, Dr. J, etc. I bet the series would be a smash hit.

There's a great one on Bird. It's not quite as detailed as what you listed you'd like, but it's a great set if you're a Bird fan.

the one called twilight, originally with more appropriate music, was called so because it only involved game footage from after the 99 title, which I feel was the clearly the 'twilight' of his career. Highlights from the pre-back injury era were twice as impressive easily as anything he ever did post back or especially post-99 when he really trailed off offensively.

David Robinson was a class act in the NBA, and he served his country to boot. Major props.
