So what is your take on the bill passed by the Virginina State House yesterday, that fines people up to $50 for intentionally exposing their underwear in a way that is “lewd or indecent” in public?

Del. Lionell Spruill Sr., D-Chesapeake said: “Don't do another thing to hurt black people. The measure could lead to racial profiling. The fashion trend is popular with young black males.”

But Del. John S. Reid, R-Henrico, who voted for the bill, said: “I think the gentleman has crossed the line.”

While Norfolk Democratic Del. Algie Howell, who represented the bill in the Senate, said the bill is about building character in young people. The baggy-pants mode of dress is disrespectful.

“The vote this morning was a vote that Virginia does want to set an example of what character should be,” Howell said.

Do you think it is a bill that will target blacks?

Will it give police officers another reason to stop and question and search someone?

Or are some democrats over reacting to this?

Personally I don't like that type of dress but I don't think we need to go this far unless a person is actually exposing themselves.

What say you?

I don't think the State should be involved.

However, I don't have a problem with such a thing at the employer/school level.

So can't you just walk around in your underwear?

I think it depends on what you look like.
I'd get arrested.

What is the fine for bra straps or thongs?

Probably depends on whether it's Joe or Eva...

Wait...would that make it a hate crime?

When I first heard about this, I actually thought it was targeting that teenage girl fashion trend of wearing low ride jeans with thongs..

Unfortunately for ya'll, I suppose, not every woman who flashes their delicates looks like her.

That too-big-pants thing is by far, the absolutely most ridiculous thing I've ever seen....and I've seen black, white and hispanic boys do this.

Not far off is that low-rise jeans/thong thing...but according to Cosmo that look isn't *in* anymore. :lol

I don't think it's that big a deal if it's truly offensive, if I want to see your underwear I'll ask ... but when does it become indecent? If you're absent-minded in the morning when you're running out the door and accidentally put on a black bra under a white blouse....or a bra strap slipped off your shoulder from under a tank top, your tank top barely covers your bra ... you walk around in your bra, or if you're > a B cup and skip the bra altogether?

Also, most bras cover more than a lot of bikini tops do ... can they rack up fines on the beach?

I think there should be a law against plumber's butt.

When we had our dishwasher installed, the plumber was actually guilty of this. I had to sanitize and then some my kitchen after he left.
