ok car buffs, since my last thread about the Toyota 2009 Scion failed, I come to you again asking about a different one.

2009 Dodge Charger

lifetime engine and transmission coverage
power everything

$19,000 plus taxes n all that

we're putting $8500 down, and paying the rest on Interest which is 0.0 for the entire period.

yay or nay ?

The only SE they make is a V6 2.7L engine. Your MPG is 18 city and 26 highway. The MSRP suggested retail value is 23,000-24,000.

My personal opinion is pass.

If I bought a Charger I would want a V-8 in it. Just my opinion.

check this out :lol

supposedly my brother thought he's getting an awesome deal, i had i dunno a strange feeling that something was up with this car, well guess what

The Car is "brand new" yet it had 6,000 miles on it !
now i know of course new cars will have some mileage on it, (transportation miles, test drive miles, but 6k ?!

so the salesman is like "i can assure you that i've been the only one to drive this car and i've taken it only to run errands, i've never smoked in it, etc....."

so my brother's like no , the whole point is we want a new one, not gonna pay 19,000 dollars for a car that has 6k miles on it.

so he's like ok we'll take $1500 off of it, my brother's still passed.

Man this has been a difficult process. I'm here in Costa Rica so i can't really help much, but we want a brand new car between 15-20 k . something good, something that'll last long, has looks but also durability.

Why do you need a gas drinking car like that? I love my 2008 Prius I get around 48 mpg.

For 15-20K get a Toyota, Nissan or Honda.

Go get the Consumer Reports new car issue, or subscribe on line. The have repair histories and pretty good recommendations. Look it over and then come up with a list of cars that meet your criteria.

I would automatically eliminate anything that doesn't get at least 30mpg. In 2008 there's no excuse to get less than that on a new car. Also, a long warranty is no substitute for quality. I would weigh the reliability rankings much more heavily than length of warranty - after all, even if the repair is free; if you're at the dealership every couple of months to get something fixed, its no fun. Especially if they don't have loaners to drive while yours is getting fixed.

Once you have you list, go to the dealerships and check out the cars. Make sure you tell the salesperson that you're going to be comparing several models.

Then by the one that gets you the best combination of a good deal and "I love that car" feeling.

I'm going to echo this. Nissan is a good value.

above and beyond the actual vehicle you decide on you need have the proper approach for making a purchase.

1. shop drive out prices not some price a salesperson blurts out

2. don't let the sales person know you are putting that much money down until the deal is finalized. Then let him know you're putting money down.

3. If at all possibly line up your financing first at your own bank or credit union. If you do that don't tell the salesperson until your deal is finalized.

I would also strongly recommend preping your credit for the purchase before you do anything. The 60 or so days that it takes to prep your credit could save you as much as 50 bucks a month in payment.

I work in sales and finance if you need any additional tips.
