I'm looking for a set of kitchen cabinets for the weekend house I'm building at the ranchito...I know exactly what sizes I need...I don't need/want expensive real wood cabinets...the A/C could be turned off for weeks at a time and they would warp like crazy in the heat/humidity...

I'm looking for those laminate covered particle board cabinets (usually white) but aren't seeing them anywhere...home depot/lowes etc. has all the expensive shit but not the good cheap shit...

Any of you vatos out there know what I'm talking about and where I can get them?

Just put up cardboard boxes and paint them white!

Are you talking about something like this at Ikea?

Big P is pretty much correct.

You want to go to the Habitat ReStore AKA Habitat Home Store, you can find a list of locations here:

http://www.habitatsa.org/homeCenter_locations.aspx

They sell cabinets in many different types and sizes, you can buy them in boxes, or assembled for I believe 10.00 more.

They mostly have plywood cabinets, but they also have particle board cabinets as well. You'd probably be better off with the plywood cabinets, but either way they are much cheaper than anything you'd find pretty much anywhere else, unless you are patient enough to wait for the right listing on Craigslist.

nope. It's south of San Antonio. Thanks, but I'm perfectly capable of installing them myself. I Just finished framing last weekend and I will be installing plumbing, A/C, and electric the next couple of weeks.

If anyone wants to give me a price in insulation/sheetrock I might be interested. I can do it, just don't want to.

Just take your pick up truck and drive to Houston and I-10. Drive slow in front of the McDonalds and show them 2 fingers and a case of beer.

+ 10000 for habitat. I was in there a few weeks ago just for grins and they have a whole quarter of the store dedicated to cabinets. I will also be buying my dinning room set from there when the time comes.

What's nice is that they have so many different types/sizes that you can pretty much do any type/size of kitchen, and they are all ready to go if you want to spend the extra 10.00 per cabinet, and if not you can get them in the boxes too.

As I recall they have 12/15/18/24/30/36/60 (or something like that) on the base cabinets, and they also have a nice lazy susan (it's not cheap though).

I also bought a lawn mower there for 5.00 (It was a Lawn Boy and anyone that knows mowers knows that's a great deal). It just needed a new wheel.

I also found some kind of WIFI device, it was a while back so I can't remember if it was an extender or a print server or what but it was also only 5.00

Also, they have a great selection of doors.

They also have some new uncut doors really cheap that can be used for desks or other work type surfaces.

There's probably more but I'm sure I've said enough.

Bottom line is if you ever do any home improvement type stuff, and you want to save money, it couldn't hurt to stop by and see what they got.

I used DirectBuy to save $$$'s on my custom made cabinets.

I'm not sure if you were joking or not ASF, but one of the truest things is that a good percentage of people with more money than the average person are some of the most frugal of all people. Its a big reason why they have more money.

God damn richers.
