Well, if you consider being up by 5 or 7 crunch time, then yes, Arenas hit one key shot. He also had 4 assists and 4TOs, a ratio even bad for the shooting guard that he is. That throwaway was 1/2 of parker's two TO's and he hit a big three on the corner pass from Bowen. Parker more than did his job tonight, and Arenas wasn't the key for the Bullets, their REAL A.S. What I really liked was Arenas started getting his game going late second, early third period. TP started pressing, forcing things that weren't there to go back at Arenas. Pop pulled him. But then TP came back in the fourth, put his game together took the team on his back and almost led them to victory.

The difference was giving up offensive rebounds, poor outside shooting on open threes, Jamison going off, and Brown and Barry being no shows. Where the fuck is Barry anyways.

Aside from that Pheonix game, which btw he was sick in, Tony has been playing consistent basketball...scoring at least 15 pts and 6 or more assists. Why don't you throw up the stats for this year. Arenas has him beat by a long shot. Translation: Arenas is improving a LOT faster than Parker.

My take is simple. I'd take Arenas over Parker. So would anyone with half a brain.

So if someone disagrees w/ you, they dont have a brain? WTHeck?

It has nothing to do with disagreeing with me. I'm talking about the best basketball talent if you had to choose between Parker and Arenas.

Nice job dodging the question. Tony Parker owns Gilbert Arenas.

Admit it.

So Arenas can put up a bunch of points with a bunch of touches. Big fucking deal. Anyone with a brain can understand that Arenas is not a true point and that Parker has outplayed him head to head over the last 2 seasons.

Flu and other things have skewed the stats in their brief matchup history. The fact still remains that there's a reason why Arenas was selected for the All-Star game and Parker wasn't. Look at this years stats. It's not even a contest.

Not to go against the homer crowd, but Arenas is having a phenomenol season. His numbers are amazing across the board. Sometimes he gets streaky, but overall he's very, very good. He still needs to up his FG%.

Last season his shooting percentage really sucked and he had way too many turnovers. But he's done a great job improving in those areas.

timvp
02-09-2005, 10:56 PM
You do realize that aren't in the same conference, don't you? It's not like Arenas got selected over Parker.

P.S.

Take out that 0-12 "flu" game and Arenas is still shoting 28.8% against Parker over the last two seasons.

SPARKY
02-09-2005, 10:56 PM
Man wtf? Parker is the superior distributor, the superior leader on the court and he can fill it up just like good old GA. He puts up better stats across the board tonight, over the last two seasons, and yet there is someone out there who doesn't seem able to grasp this.

Oh well, IceCold can head up the FSP Flat Earth SocietyŠ.

Arenas is a good player but as many have pointed out he's not a PG, not disciplined, Relying on him as a PG ultimately is likely fools gold. Kind of like relying on Francis though Arenas does at least have a higher IQ than Stevie.

The truth is Larry Hughes was the teams point guard. He brought the ball up just as much as Arenas did and was averaging more assists.

Gilbert Arenas is a small two guard.

OT but more interesting than Brewski mutterings about Parker.

Larry Hughes is a FA. Cavs should go after him instead of Redd or Allen.

Fan since 1977, 12 years old for me growing up in Chicago, 1/2 season ticket holder since 92, UTSA grad 90, went to school (college) in SA because I was a Spurs fan and wanted to see SA home games. Have been driving down to SA from Round Rock since 98 to see home games. I had full season tickets in 03 and only missed 3 regular season games (due to business travel). Went to all home season games (I had) during 96-97 season.

You must be Don Harris the way you hate Parker.

I will always back Parker over any blow hard so called "sports reporter". TP is the best PG the Spurs have had in 20 years. Rod would have been up there if only he could have had the mind set. By the way "the Pass" was both the rocket's and the ninja's fault. It costs me a least a grade level in Electromagnitism final. It's kinda ironic since today I support/sell wireless network equipment.

Ice, how are you a spurs fan? You hate Parker so much, but face it, he is a big part of this Spurs team, and is here for 6 more years after this season. Plus he might even be here longer after that tenure. I really don't see why you hate on him. He's just out there doing his thing, and making the Spurs win. Sure he has a few bad games, but he's no Tim Duncan. Then again who is?
