View Full Version : Most intelligent posters

I'd go with:

ES: Probably has the highest IQ around.

Scott: Doesn't post enough, but from what I recall, he is pretty bright.

Manny: annoying as hell but still very intelligent.

FWD: no explanations needed.

Travis: quick mind, although he can get a little volatile when discussion religion

whottt: yes, I know, he is a nutjob, but he is still pretty bright.

Who's on your list?

I think the 2 smartest posters by far on this forum are FWDT and Timvp. Timvp doesn't post about much outside of the Spurs but he is probably the one who knows more things you wouldn't expect from him. Not only that but he picks up shit really fast from what I've seen.

FWDT has the best command of English out of anyone on the forum and articulates his points extremely well. Its easy to see the attorney in him and he never - and i mean never - says anything stupid. He's probably the only one on the forum who can claim that.

There are a lot of people on there I think are a little below those 2.

I'm the peoples choice and bring the kind of thought process that clearly defines the reality vs. bullshit little happyville you guys love to reside in. A vote for B2B is a vote for the people a vote for change and a vote for a life we can all truely understand and appreciate. Only inferior members fail to make a poll out of a clear poll thread. Vote for someone who really gives a damn about middle class VOTE B2B!!!

the obvious are ES and FWDT. I disagree with Manny that FWDT doesn't ever say anything stupid, because FWDT isn't Jesus Christ. FWDT says a lof of stupid things, but he always keeps his cool and I like that. On the other hand, ES will bury your head in a dictionary, history book, and encyclopedia.

In my experience, some people take a very different approach to posting (and talking), and I think that more than anything plays into it.

For example, Bob Dylan sounds like somewhat of an idiot in most of his interviews that I've read (prob because he's high lol or maybe not), yet he's the biggest musical genius of his era (IMO).

I knew a kid in High School who was a genius, and didn't talk any better than the average person.

Some people, I guess, are just more flamboyant than others when it comes to their intelligence.

PM5K
09-09-2008, 12:15 PM
Damn I wasn't even mentioned in passing or in comparison.

For example: "FWD is 100 times smarter than PM5K."

Or: "I think if PM5K wasn't such an idiot he'd make the list."

Or:"I talked to PM5K once and I think he might be smart, or he could be a total moron, I'm not sure"

Extra Stout pretty much beat the pants off anybody who posted scores from their tests.

Not definitive, but certainly more objective...

Interesting thread :lol

I'm not sure how much intelligence you can tell from a message board. Of course, you can tell who is well read, writes well, or argues well. As for intelligence, there are a lot of people who can recall facts, history, etc. They are very good trivia experts with good memories, but not necessarily intelligent. There are others that will only talk about subjects they know well, but aren't well-rounded in their knowledge. Others are very good at logic, mathematical and otherwise.

I know that we have posted IQ test results here before and the scores were astronomically higher than any average group of people. My only conclusion from that is that SpursTalk attracts smart people and/or good liars. ;)

Interesting trend of new "who's the most . . ." threads.

I agree that the tests that RG talks about don't really tell you who's the most intelligent because they seem to be general knowledge tests (and biased towards things related to Amercia).

Other tests such as IQ tests would definetly tell a more accurate story.

I still believe you can tell from how people write about different topics, who is an intelligent person.

I agree. Research has shown time and time again the extremely high correlation between a good vocabulary and intelligence. And while this may too be biased against our non-American peers, I believe anecdotal assessments of vocabulary and prose mechanics are more than useful in forming our own opinions about the intelligence of other posters.

Edit: There's plenty of research out there that I'd like to cite, but stupid google books and JStor show everything in .pdf. Here's a link though:

I think a great deal of it has to do with the particular subjects that are discussed here. There are people who show their insight or education with regards to sports, or legal issues, or political issues but that does not necessarily make them intelligent, possibly just well-informed or well-read. There are entire arenas of human knowledge that are not even touched upon at all on here that may require higher levels of natural intelligence to grasp.
