You forgot that the Rockets are always 50% injured during the regular season and STILL virgins to the second round :downspin:

I am not gonna predict the wins, but I think the Southwest will end up looking like this:

1) Rockets
2) Spurs
3) Hornets
4) Dallas
5) Griz

I think the Rockets will be better, but I still have tons of question marks regarding them. Mainly, health. If T-Mac or Yao miss several games, I would bump them down the list.

I think the Spurs will produce approximately the same amount of wins they usually do.

As for the Hornets, I really think this team will slip. Although they have alot of talent, I still have to see if they can do it more then one year (Warriors). I don't think they found a 3rd scorer to go with Paul and West. I don't really consider Peja a 3rd option simply because he can't really create his own shot. The addition of Posey is nice, but losing Pargo can also hurt this team. In addition, they have had health issues in the past.

Dallas will be better. I just worry about Kidd's offensive production and if Howard can return to form.

The Grizz...who cares.

I am not ranking the teams....Rather, just predicting the seeding in the divison. :flag:

It's not a matter of adding Yao or Barry...it's a matter if they can stay on the court. That's a very big concern.

The division, the conference, hell the entire NBA will be tougher than it's been since the early 80s. We might not see another dynasty for the next decade or so. I say the Hornets or Spurs battle for the SW division title. The Rockets if they could stay healthy (Yao and TMac) and sane (Artest) could give the rest of the league a run for their money.

For the first time in a very long time, I have doubts about our chances.:( Right now I don't think we have done enough to keep up with the young'uns. Maybe a trade is brewing.:whine I want us to make the playoffs completely healthy, then I'll see. Scratch that. I believe that we can do it one more time. :flag: But we need Tim playing like playoff Tim sooner rather than later.:king

5. Grizzlies

Every Southwest team will be good and it will be the hardest division in the NBA. Grizzlies will barely miss the Playoffs and they won't be pushovers this year. Mavs and Spurs will hear Grizzly footsteps behind them all season long.

It's amazing how much talent the Grizz have now (Rudy Gay, Hakim Warrick, Mike Conley, Kyle Lowry, Javaris Crittenton. Then you add in their 4 high lottery pick type rookies in OJ Mayo, Marc Gasol, Haddadi, Darrel Arthur.

Oddly enough, the panel either forgot that the Spurs win the NBA title every other year (2003, 2005, 2007) or doesn't care. How else do you explain San Antonio's not receiving a single vote to win the West?

WTF?
are you serious?
talk about laker love..
from ESPN of all places - you knew that would happen?

IF IF IF IF the Rockets can have good luck with health, that will be a team to seriously look out for. They were already a damn good defensive team before ronny but now they will be even better. Their Offense was meshing late into the year under Adleman and now with a full training camp, it should be better. Health is the key concern for Houston. If it is on their side this year, I just cant see them going out in round 1.

Manu is a major question mark, as is Hill (also, we just re-signed "Moses" Finley, and Barry is gone). Hornets are good, Rox got better and had a 22-win streak last year without Yao for most of it.

hell no. it was finley, horry, vaughn, stoudamire, bonner, oberto, and sometimes ginobili.

Tim and Tony were the most consistent.

In the PO's you turn it up a notch. Tim in every Post Season had turned into a Monster. We couldnt wait for the season to finally see Timmy. After the Suns series, Timmy realized, most of his teammates we're getting easily beat. Timmy's 3 save that series, but he never really showed much after. He got doubled every game after, with no help what so ever under the paint, Tyson was schooling Timmy and even Timmy said it. The games were so bad Pop would quit and throw in the scrubs like the names you mentioned. That quitting sunk into Timmys mindset. TP turned it up a notch every series. Manu did as well even, hurt. Bruce slowed a tad for the first time ever, but he was the best player on the court anyways. Those are the guys that are supposed to turn it up a notch, the rest or just scrubs. Timmy couldnt make easy put backs, he lost his money shot that needs no movement what so ever. His off the glass shot that was money every post season before. I know Im right and so do most who know about basketball. And in noway did any of this make me happy, Im a Spurs Fan

Duncan sucked so bad the rest of the playoffs that he averaged 22-17-5-1-2 in the WCF.

Right.

Rockets (54 wins) - 2nd seed
Hornets (52) - 3rd seed
Spurs (49) - 5th seed
Mavs (46) - 7th seed
Memphis (33)

I also think that, barring injuries, the Rockets and the Spurs will meet in the WC finals.

#8? :oops

Last season, the Spurs came within ONE game of the best record in the WC despite having gone without Tim Duncan for a total of 4 games, Tony Parker for 13 and Ginobili for eight.

They were 2-2 without Duncan, 8-5 without Parker and 5-3 without Manu.

Right now, TD & TP are healthy.
