I have always thought Joe Johnson and Brandon Roy have similar games, they are both all-stars, both are always poised, clutch shooters, both are very good defenders and both are good leaders. What Im pissed about is that we don't get to play Portland till February 20. But I want to know who you think is better, give me your opinion.

Gimme Joe Johnson any day. I like Roy but really don't get why people blow their chodes over him. He's a solid player but he's never going to be more than a 17-20 ppg guy who is best suited as a second or third option on a good team.

Portland will be a dynasty only if Oden, Aldridge, and Rudy all develop into premiere players and Brandon Roy is demoted to 4th whistle.

Joe Johnson is bigger, stronger, more athletic, and has a cleaner jump shooting stroke.

I'll take that guy.

Besides being the better player, JJ is a horse, he plays a ton of minutes and is never hurt. When is Brandon Roy not hurt?

Brandon Roy. I saw him completely PWN Johnson in a game here at the Rose Garden. The Blazers were getting killed for 3 quarters and then Roy just took over. The Hawks could not stop him and he put Johnson on lock down. Probably the most amazing individual performance by a Blazer I saw last year.

I saw that too and that's all fine and good for the purpose of those 12 minutes, but in the context of the rest of the minutes they've played over their careers, Brandon Roy is not better than Joe Johnson.

So how did Brandon Roy's playoff run work out for him? Joe Johnson's team played the NBA Champions tougher than the Lakers did.

Those two games were decided by a total of 3 points, one game went into over time. The stats of those two players in those two games:

Roy: 21 ppg, 4 apg, 2 rpg
Johnson: 28 ppg, 6.5 apg, 5.5 rpg

tlong, you're burying yourself. this is an easy one...I 'like' Roy, but I have no problem saying that JJ is by FAR the better player. If Roy tries to evolve, he'll sabotage his team-but if he finds his way toward upping his team play, he'll probably find his team in the hunt.

You didn't watch the first round of the playoffs between Atlanta and Boston, did you? Joe Johnson went crazy on the best defense in the league in several of those games even when they doubled him and tried to deny him the ball. He arguably played better than Kobe did against Boston. No all star talent in Joe Johnson?

You obviously didn't watch the 05-06 season he had with Atlanta either. I don't know about you, but playing 40+ minutes a night in all 82 games with averages of 20+ ppg, 6.5 apg and 4.5 rpg seems a little too damn good for a "role player" if you ask me.

Roy> Ginobili on last years All Star was a travesty by this league and coaches...

And that wasn't the travesty. The travesty was picking B-Roy over Deron Williams. (No matter how good Roy's December was)

What's funny is that the B-Roy performance in tlong's vid wasn't as good as Joe Johnson's performance in game 4 (or was it 6?). And that was against the champs. I didn't see Kobe do that either.

Exactly, Tlong is being quite childish here. I still love the blazers, they have a lot of potential this year. They've done a good job starting over and getting rid of scrubs like Randolph. It hasn't exactly been easy watching them the past several years.

Warlord23

The Celtics, the best defensive team last year, double-teamed Joe Johnson more than they doubled Kobe. In fact they blatantly doubled JJ away from the freaking ball.

JJ is the prototypical swingman, terrific on offense and pretty good on defense, clutch, handles the ball well and has the ability to log major minutes without injury. No contest - JJ is much better than Roy

Johnson is more talented and can take over games. Roy, not yet at least. I'd take Johnson easily.
