Apparently an AP article, so I should only link it, IIRC.

Same incident Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur were involved in, with the marijuana and women. However, those two were only fined $20,000, while Beasley was fined $50,000. I'm assuming that either means his involvement was as much or more than the other two, and/or they're fining him more for not cooperating initially.

That's rather odd. We never heard of Beasley when it initially happened. I'm guessing he wasn't there or hiding under the bed at the time of they got caught.

Mario or Darrell Arthur must have ratted him out.

He must have been the one smoking the weed since Chalmers and Arthur said they didn't. :rolleyes

I read that Beasley locked himself in the bathroom flushing the weed down the toilet and refused to come out of the bathroom.

Watch out for these guys at the home games. Something exciting might happen if you spot them.

Seriously? It sounds crazy but I don't know what to believe anymore.

This isn't the original source I read this whenever the incident first took place, but I did a quick google search just to give you a link. It's not completely credible, and is more of a rumor than anything, but I think there were multiple reports mentioning Beasley was in the bathroom and wouldn't come out. And, now that he's come forward saying he was involved, perhaps some merit to the story.

The Big Lead said someone locked themselves inside the bathroom and kept flushing the toilet while refusing to let police open the door. No one knows - except the police - if that was Beasley or not. Hey, whatever works. Either way, Beasley hasn't gotten in any trouble for this.

Shit, you WERE serious, as I was joking about him hiding under the bed. Thanks for the link.

We didn't hear jack about Beasley when the story broke 2 weeks ago now all of a sudden he shows up "involved".

Your article said that ESPN originally had Beasley in the room and his name suddenly got pulled from the article. It might have sounded crazy 2 weeks ago but today it does make some sense.

And right about the same time, Beasley fires his agent and everybody is confused as to why.

And you have weed in the air but no weed at all anywhere to be found in the room with reports of somebody locked in the bathroom?

It doesn't sound that far fetched that Beasley was in the bathroom getting rid of stuff.

What I want to know is how many of these rookies smoked weed and got laid without getting busted for it? I'm sure a rather high percentage. The only crime pertaining to weed these days is getting caught. Chalmers, Arthur and Beasley are all martyrs, because IMO, the NBA doesn't care if it's players smoke weed or not, it just cares about maintaining a perception that they don't... A perception that isn't widely held anyway.

.

Actually it was all over sports radio a day or two after the incident. Stern was just trying to keep his name out of it originally.

I missed the boat on that one.

As for the ESPN report being editted to remove Beasley's name, it looks like a cover-up. Apparently, Beasley is part of the ESPN "The Rookie: Michael Beasley" feature.

They had already put out Episode 1 and I don't doubt they were at the orientation filming for Episode 2.

So it could be that ESPN was trying to cover up for Michael Beasley since he was their main NBA rookie star.

I don't care whether or not players smoke pot but I was thinking Beasley could become a top player in the NBA. If he can get even more pussy, great but do it on your own time.

You become the best by dedicating yourself to basketball. Everybody knows Duncan smokes weed but I can guarantee you he doesn't do it while on company time.

With all this baggage already, I wouldn't be surprised now if he turns into a lottery bust or an average player.

I don't doubt Duncan smokes weed, but is there some story or video out confirming this that would lead to the comment that "everybody knows Duncan smokes weed?"

There are a lot of players in the NBA that have been associated with smoking weed. Apparently, I missed the stories that have included Duncan.

There have been rumors about Duncan and grass forever. I've never seen any absolute proof. There were random stories that he was a regular smoker in college, but nothing to show that he's smoked regularly through his NBA career.

I would doubt he'd be much of a smoker at this point of his life and his career.

We had a conversation about it here:

Would have to be a huge bed to hide that man underneath it.
