No one has mentioned that Tony Parker has a clip in the new Windows ad campaign? For shame, you guys are slipping, but I guess it is the off season so you can be excused.

It's at about the :29 second mark....

I use Linux, XP, and Vista on various computers. I like Linux the best because it's very flexible, even if it is a pain in the rear to set up. Vista has a couple nice improvements over XP, but considering it occupies over a full gig of ram with no programs running except my standard TSRs, I don't like it. Heck, I don't like how much RAM XP uses, either, and it uses half as much as Vista.

the lack of quotes should infer that i'm referencing the topic at hand. when someone talks about a topic do they have to quote the original post so people know that?

Eva and Tony in Microsoft ad (http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/spurs/Eva_and_Tony_in_Microsoft_ad.html)
L.A. Lorek - Express-News

Microsoft's latest “I'm a PC” ad features “Desperate Housewives” actress Eva Longoria Parker and San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker.

San Antonio's power couple makes a cameo appearance in the television ad along with Microsoft founder Bill Gates, NASA astronaut Bernard Harris, hip-hop artist Pharrell Williams and religious author Deepak Chopra, along with regular folks. It began airing this week.

“Broadly speaking, what we are trying to do is show the diversity of people who associate themselves with being a PC,” said Eric Hollreiser, Microsoft's corporate communications director.

The latest Microsoft ad focuses on debunking the stereotype of a PC owner as depicted by comedian John Hodgman in the “I'm a Mac” ads. The Microsoft ad features one of the company's engineers who looks like Hodgman.

With the latest advertising campaign, Microsoft wanted to showcase the billion-plus PC users around the world from a variety of professions from sports to Hollywood to everyday people who are proud PC users, Hollreiser said.

“Tony and Eva are one of the hottest couples on the planet, and we're proud to be associated with them and we're proud they're a PC,'' he said.

The Parkers spot shows them sitting in their backyard. Tony says, “I'm a PC and I have three rings” as he holds up his hand, displaying his NBA championship rings. Then Eva, lounging poolside on a recliner, says, “I'm a PC and I have one ring” as she flashes her diamond wedding ring.

The ad is part of Microsoft's $300 million Windows marketing campaign, which earlier featured two ads starring Gates and comedian Jerry Seinfeld. Those ads showed Gates and Seinfeld shopping for shoes and had them moving in with a suburban family to get in touch with common people.

The Parkers may appear in additional Microsoft ads.

“We're very happy to be working with them now and into the future,'' Hollreiser said. “Eva has worked with the company in the past around Vista and has incorporated technology into her life and has associated herself with PCs.''

People can upload their own “I'm a PC” videos to Windows.com and might get a chance to be featured in future ads on the Web, Hollreiser said.

Gotta go Mac OSX here. Was an Windows 2000 and XP guy for a few years, but once I got turned on to the mac, I'll never go back.

Absolutely superior operating system. Apple is innovative and original, and Microsoft copies, makes slight changes, and then resells it as it's own. I gotta give them props for licensing windows to the masses. One of the greatest business moves of modern times. Even though windows was and always will be crap. I mean really, how can a company spend 5 or 6 years and 6 billion dollars on a new operating system that's a poor copy of some other companies and has tons of issues, forcing people who won't open their mind to non window operating systems to be stuck with something that is over 8 YEARS OLD!!! That's ancient in technological terms.

Not to fuck up a nice rant you have going but..............Steve Jobs aka Mr.Macintosh (your hero) stole the original software from Xerox.

Steve Jobs had no idea what a mouse was until Xerox showed him. :lmao

RoyerReptiles

Ahh yes, the Xerox story. Very true, and you help me make my point in a way speaking of innovation. Xerox was the originator of the drop down menus and "windows" that we are all so accustomed to today. The point, though, is that Apple (Steve Jobs) saw what they had and realized that it would one day be the future of computing. Just like being the first computer company to not include a floppy drive with their computers, going it with CD drive only. Apple leads the way. Whether they invent the technology or are the first to implement the technology. They didn't invent the MP3 player, but they just about perfected it. Innovation.

09-22-2008, 02:57 PM
I like Apple for the fact they are always looking to improve and invent. And I also used to be a huge acid dropper back in my day like Steve Jobs was. :smokin

But I like Windows for the fact it was already in my PC when I got it back in 95.

So even though BMW makes a better car to many people are used to the Chevy, or toyota. So anything new or you have to learn is not good for the average PC user. That is why Vista was doom to fail since most people today are still trying to learn how to use XP. now they have to get more RAM and other shit?

People are like Wallmart ,they want things cheap, fast and 24/7

Apple is like Spencers gifts, they are of high quality, not that cheap, and are only open from 8am till 7pm.

The sad part is the person who had the original vision of todays computer world sits alone in a single wide trailer eating spam.
