Chuckles says that this makes them the favorite over the Spurs.

This might up the stakes to get another quality post player.

Just heard it on TNT. This makes the Heat a little thougher but I think the Spurs could still beat them if they meet in the finals.

Makes them real tough. We definitely need some more beef.

That was quick.

I dont see how a sick ageing center who can barely play 15 minutes a game "Puts them over the top"

Good signing though.

I'll be surprised if Zo has as much left as Kevin Willis. Hell, he might be retired again by playoff time (sorry, big guy). Don't worry too much.

Let's see if he actually plays again this season.

David Aldredge reported he's in shape.

15 minutes a night of a quality backup to Shaq, plus Udonis, will make them very tough in a seven game series..

I give him till March 20.

He's always been "in shape". That doesn't mean he's going to be able to play out the season.

no kidding.

he was in fantastic shape last year in New Jersey till he broke down.

Sean Elliott was too.

In shape aint the question, its durability.

Personally, I think Zo is one of the biggest jerks around. Hope he does break down just enough so he can't play NBA basketball. Then I can go back to rooting for Miami again.

??? Did Toronto release him? I hadn't heard.

BTW, he was playing 25+ for NJ this year in 18 games.

BTW, he was playing 25+ for NJ this year in 18 games. And hasn't played in over two months. Remains to be seen whether he can finish out the season.

What is his status? Has he been released or bought out?

Wow, that will without a doubt make Miami the favorites in the Eastern Conference to the finals.

What is his status? Has he been released or bought out?it was mentioned in a Toronto game last week that HE DIDN'T REPORT TO TORONTO . :oops

And he wanted a buyout of his contract last month...so maybe it did happen

Hopefully, the Raps held his feet to the fire, and cut a good deal for themselves. NJ was stupid to sign him to that deal when he refused to take a physical. That's standard practice in the sports world, and his refusal should have set off alarm bells.

That's old news, and Toronto didn't expect him to, going so far as to waive the standard physical so that the trade would go through. They needed the salary to be able to ship out VC.

How much did he get for the buyout? I can't find this on the net anywhere.

The TNT network reported Thursday that the Toronto Raptors will buy out the contract of veteran center Alonzo Mourning.

Getting Zo is huge, he can still score, rebound and defend. He will be a big help to Shaq. This makes the Heat a much improved team. They are very good now but if they get Zo they could be great.

Could be somewhat of a fairytale finish for Zo, if he did wind up back in Miami.

he hasnt officially bought out his contract, but so what if he does. This guy cant last 15 games, even if he can, hes not that effective anymore. I am not worried about the Heat, lets beat Phoenix/Seattle and we'll get our third title.

Someone wake me up when the guy can go a week without coming down with a new injury.

The guy can no longer take anti-inflammatories and so he is always going to be injury plagued from here on out. Rest is his only option and when you consider how much of the season we have left I don't think the guy will make it to playoff time unless they seriously ration his mins.

VC for Eric Williams and Aaron Williams....now Eric is demanding a trade...
AW isn't even playing...So VC for a few draft picks.
